Hello everyone! Welcome back to Purely Olivia.
As you can tell by the title of this post, I have jumped on the bullet journal bandwagon. And while there are already tons of bullet journal posts out there, I still wanted to share mine with you all. 🙂
I got much of my inspiration for the pages in my journal from Pinterest, as well as other bullet journals I saw, so while I tried to make mine original, know that not all of the creativity credit goes to me. XD
Also, since I got my journal just about a month ago, I haven’t filled everything in yet- I’ll just be sharing the general setup.
I got my journal from Amazon (you can see it here!) and it’s pretty large- about the size of a piece of printer paper. I’d recommend it because it has really light dots, which are super helpful for making straight lines.
I also got these pens with it, and I love them! They’re really fine tip and don’t bleed through too noticeably. Then I also just use Papermate flair pens and pencils, which I already had.
This is one of the first pages! The journal I got is perfect for a beginner- at the beginning it has pages with suggestions of what to journal about, etc. Then it sets you loose and all the rest of the pages are blank!
I haven’t filled in the key, since I don’t really know if I’m going to use it. But, I have used a lot of my index so far. 😉
Next, I have a list of books I read! (It’s currently not updated.) I just realized I wrote the quote at the bottom of that page wrong… *face palm* It’s actually “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Oh, well.
I also have a page for my blog, though I haven’t decided what I want to write on it yet. Maybe just general information?
Birthday cupcakes are so cute! XD I saw this all over Pinterest, and it’s just so adorable. And now I want cupcakes. On the page on the right, I’m eventually going to fill it with drawings and words of things that I love.
I think the left page is pretty self explanatory…and the one on the right is going to be a self-care page of sorts- basically, I’ll end up filling the space with words/drawings of things that make me happy or things to do that will make me happy, so if I’m having a bad day I can look at the page and get some sunshine. 🙂
I’m not the biggest fan of how my bucket list title turned out…but it’s okay. As for the other page, obviously I’ll be filling it with quotes I love!
The first month I bullet journaled was December. I ended up loving the way my monthly overview page turned out! The layout is great, since it has a little calendar and then goals and then a mini “bucket list” for the month.
The other page was my journaling for the first week of December, though I ended up using a different format for the rest of the month…
Here’s the weekly format I decided on! I really like it because while it’s definitely not like all those perfect ones you see on Pinterest, it’s still colorful and organized, while also serving a purpose. Basically, I just wrote a sentence or two about my day and then also had a to-do list for the week and gratitude.
I’m hoping that I can experiment with other weekly formats as I continue to bullet journal! I want to change things up eventually. 😉
I saw this idea on Pinterest, and I just had to do it. (Also: the next season of A Series of Unfortunate Events is coming out soon and I am so excited! Like really, really excited.)
Have you guys heard of the Year in Pixels? I saw it on (you guessed it) Pinterest, and I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like at the end of the year. I’m hoping I’ll have lots of pink and green pixels. 🙂
And finally, I just have the cover page for January. I’ve been really busy with school and I haven’t been able to work much on January yet, so this concludes my bullet journal tour.
I hope y’all enjoyed this post! I’ve loved bullet journaling so far, and it was fun to share it here. I’m hoping to get more week done on it soon, and fill in some of my mostly blank pages. Thanks for reading, as always!
Wow! You’re doing really Great! I love your weekly pages! They were too cute and looked really effective… these are my hardest pages and they always look ugly to me, so I stopped doing them. Still i love my bullet journal!

Thank you so much, Dani! 🙂 Weekly pages are definitely the hardest, and they are hard to keep up with. Good luck with the rest of your bullet journal, and good luck with finding a layout that works for your weekly pages! Thanks for your sweet comment.💞 (Sorry it took me a while to reply- it went to my spam folder for some reason.)

Bullet journaling definitely isn’t for everyone! I was a little hesitant to start because I was worried I’d abandon it. 😉 Thank you so much, Charli! I appreciate you reading.

I keep seeing bloggers talk about bullet journals, and like, I’m so jealous? 😂 I can’t write like fonts, I don’t have those fancy pens, or a book good for it. But every time I see your guy’s, they’re gorgeous! 😂

Aww! Well, thank you for reading yet another bullet journal post. 😉 If you ever want to try one, Pinterest is your best friend for learning how to hand letter, and you can get some cheap journals/pens on Amazon.

Wow, that’s so funny. I just recently started a bullet journal too, and I got the same exact pens! I also have a ton of the same pages as you and I’m going to be posting a bullet journal post on my blog tomorrow. Isn’t that crazy? Your bullet journal is so pretty! You’re really good at lettering😉

I definitely have ones it’s my first and I’m always keeping in mind the “mistakes happen” I do practise in a sketchbook most of the time but it doesn’t always translate to the page

This is so cute! I’ve tried to keep up with bullet journals, but I always end up giving up a few months in. I had one going for a little while but I tend to forget it exists ;P Next school year or this summer I really want to get a good journal and just stick to it.

Thanks, Brooke! I’ve always had trouble keeping up with journals too, I’m doing shockingly well. 😉 You can do it, I believe in you!

This was such a cute post, Olivia! I’ve been wanting to start a bullet journal for a long time, and I thought I’d do it this year for the new year, but I don’t think I have the time to do it the way I want it to. (And as a perfectionist, it takes double the amount of time.) But your bullet journal looks so COOL! I loooove the weekly layout — it looks organized yet really aesthetic — and the Year in Pixels is such a great idea!

Thanks so much, May! 🙂 I’m a perfectionist too, and I mostly set mine up over Thanksgiving break so I’d have tons of time to make it the way I wanted it. Hopefully you can start one over the summer or something! Thanks for reading!

Woah, girl. You have a superior aesthetic bullet journal! My friend gave me one for my birthday and I love it so much — everything goes in there 🙂 . You have a beautiful blog, btw! Lovely header. It’s always nice to meet a fellow dancer…right now I’m honestly still dizzy from using a turn board.
