Summer is so close.
My summer starts in just a few days, and I can’t wait! For no school and lots of ice cream, of course, but mostly for days upon days of reading. Today I’ll be sharing a few books that I definitely want to read this summer.
Although we all know I won’t read all of these?? And we also know that I’ll read other books too, because that’s just the mood reader inside of me. 😉 Still, I’m excited to set a few reading goals for the months ahead.
Some of these books have been on my TBR for ages, others are new discoveries, and some are even rereads! Can I get through a post without talking about rereads…I think not. But all of them are books I really want to read this summer.
1. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, by Becky Albertalli
How have I not read this book?? Or seen the movie?? These are all questions I want to ask myself and I really don’t have an answer to them. ‘I’ve been busy’ is not an excuse. I have been looking forward to this book for quite some time now, so I’m 50000% sure I’ll be reading it this summer. (And then watching the movie.)
I CAN’T EXPRESS MY EXCITEMENT. I may finally read it. XD
2. Basically everything Adam Silvera has written??
After reading They Both Die at the End, I really want to read the rest of Adam Silvera’s books. I know they’re going to tear my soul apart, so I’m not sure why I’m voluntarily reading them. All I know that TBDATE was one of the best (and most heartbreaking) books I’ve ever read, and I want more of those feels!
3. Reread Harry Potter
It has been much too long since I reread Harry Potter! I try to reread it pretty frequently, but I think it’s been at least a year since I last picked it up. I need to get back into the wizarding world this summer. 😉
Also, who wants to have a Harry Potter movie marathon with me?? Because that is something on my non-book summer bucket list.
4. A Court of Thorns and Roses Series, by Sarah J. Maas
I’ve heard SO many things about this series…some really, really good and some really, really bad.
Since I’ve never read it (I checked it out from the library a couple months ago, but didn’t get around to reading it), I think it’s time that I decide for myself what I think of it. I really don’t know if it’ll end up being something I like, but I might as well give it a try! Especially since I’ll have a lot of free time this summer.
5. The Emily Series, by L.M. Montgomery
If you know me, then you know that my ALL time favorite book is Anne of Green Gables. (And the rest of the series is also amazing!) I can’t believe that I haven’t read the Emily series, written by the same author as the Anne series.
I love classics and being transported back in time…oh, I just can’t wait to read it. 🙂
6. Divergent Series, by Veronica Roth
Could I be any later to reading Divergent?! Did anyone else read that like Chandler Bing…because I did. Yes, I’m much too late to the party, but better late than never, right?
Like with the ACOTAR series, I have my doubts about these books. It’s been a long time since they first gained popularity, and I’ve already had part of the ending spoiled for me. But still. It’s Divergent. I should read it…right?
7. Allll the contemporaries
The ones above are just a few out of the dozens of contemporaries I have on my Goodreads TBR. Some of them are fluffy, some deal with important issues, and all of them look like my kinda book. 😉
Maybe I’ll do mini review posts throughout the summer of contemporaries I’ve been reading? Let me know if that’s something you’d like to read.
8. Twilight

Don’t laugh. I know, I know. It’s Twilight.
I literally have no expectations for this book. I’ve legitimately heard nothing but bad things about this series. BUT, I’m going to have a lot of free time this summer…and I’ll be really bored…and shouldn’t I just see what they’re about?
For Cedric Diggory’s sake. Tear.
9. Reread To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series
I’m slightly stealing this item from Elizabeth’s list, shhh. BUT, I have so much love for this series, I can’t even begin to explain it to you. It’s 500% the perfect contemporary. ANDD it’s becoming a Netflix movie (or series, I’m not sure yet) which is actually one of the best things to ever happen, ever.
I need to reread this series now.
10. We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart
I’ve heard quite a few things about this book- it seems that people either love it or hate it. I’ve been meaning to read it for a long time now, so maybe summer will finally be my chance! I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it.
And that concludes my summer TBR! There are many more books I’m hoping to read, but these are just a few of the main ones. 😉 My last day of school is this Friday, yay! Summer is so close I can almost taste it. XD
Have you read any of the books on my TBR, and what did you think of them? What do you want to read this summer? I’d love to chat with you in the comments.

it looks like you are catching up with all those popular backlist books which is always exciting ahh. the divergent series starts off really good but kinda went downhill tho. the first book was really addicting and good thoo!! i heard we were liars has some racist crap in it which :/// so idk if i’ll ever pick it up tho it does seem interesting, it’s never been at the top of my TBR. ALSO SAME with the adam silvera books. i’ve never read a single one but i really want so good luck to both of us!! and simon vs was kinda disappointing but its still SO MUCH FUN TO READ

Yes! I’m finally reading all the books that most people read years ago.😂
Good to know about the Divergent series, I don’t see myself reading the entire series, but I wanted to at least give it a try.
Oh, I hadn’t heard that about We Were Liars, thank you letting me know, that might influence if I end up reading it!
AHH YESS ADAM SILVERA!! I’ve only read They Both Die at the End, but it is a new all-time favorite- soo good.
EEEP I’m also excited for Simon vs.!! I’m excited for everything ahaha. Thank you for your comment, Ilsa!

You have so much great reading to look forward to this summer, and I am HIGHLY JEALOUS that you’ll have so much free time to read! I hope you love A Court of Thorns and Roses, and I’m curious to see what you think of Divergent and Twilight. And I’m totally with you on needing to read Adam Silvera’s backlist!

Haha, I do have a lot of reading to look forward to…I wish I could transfer some of my reading time to you!😂Thank you, did you like ACOTAR? I’m super excited to see what I think of Twilight, Divergent, and Adam Silvera’s books. Thanks for your comment, Dani!

I enjoyed ACOTAR, but I LOVED ACOMAF, the second book in the series. I know it’s not for everyone, though, so I’m curious to see how you like it.

Adam Silvera is also on my tbr for the summer! I have heard great things about him and I have yet to read any of his book. It’s just that sad books are not usually my thing, but I’m curious enough about his book that I’m willing to be heartbroken by the end of it.
Great post!

Ahh, I love Adam Silvera! Well, I love They Both Die at the End, I haven’t read any others yet. 😉 I’m not usually a sad book fan either, but the feels his book gave me were just unexplainable!
Thank you so much! Thanks for reading!💞

ooh okay so most of the books on this list I’ve either read and love or want to read…I was just thinking about rereading Harry Potter, it’s been too long 🙂 I want to read Adam Silvera and also all those contemporaries look good and now I’ve got more books to add to my tbr…My friend read Twilight and said that the key was to read it really fast to not get annoyed…maybe that would work for you? idk haha 🙂 great post!!

Summer is SO CLOSE- I just felt like that statement needed repeating. I’ve read the Divergent series and the first two books of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I liked Divergent, but then it kind of slumped. I think was okay on ACOTAR (I don’t really remember), but I got bored during the second one. Yea, I agree, it’s always worth a try! Oooh, a contemporary mini-review post sounds awesome. I hope you love the Emily series! Haha, I want to see what the Twilight series are all about too. My friend just finished the whole series and all the movies, and she loved them. I have no idea about what I will be reading this summer except I know I will reading Candide and A Tale of Two Cities (for school).

IT DOES need repeating. It’s so, SO close. *reaches out to touch summer* Okay, I’ve heard that Divergent kind of goes downhill after the first book…and ACOTAR, too. Well, maybe I’ll enjoy the first books, haha.😉
I hope I do a mini reviews post! Knowing me, of course I will. XD Yes, I am so curious about Twilight, just because of all the hype and it being such a popular movie franchise, too. I’ll let you know what I think!
I just realized I have no idea what my required reading this for the summer…I hope it’s something good. I’m interested in reading A Tale of Two Cities for fun this summer, you’ll have to let me know what you think!
Thank you for your comment, Annie!❤️

Haha, I hope you do! And if you don’t like the book, you can always try the Divergent movie. I watched the first one, and I remember it being pretty good and very intense.
I’m excited for that post! Haha, Twilight is intriguing. I feel like it’s one of those books that it’s good to read so you can talk to people about it. Okay!
Ooh, I definitely will!
You’re welcome. :))

Thanks! Ooh, yes, I’ve heard the movies are pretty good for Divergent.
Yay! Yeah, I think it’ll be good to have read Twilight just so I get all the references and so I can say Harry Potter is better. 😉 Just kidding (sort of). XD

I find it interesting that there are Twilight references in Harry Potter! I feel like there wouldn’t be that much overlap between people who love the two series. Haha, that sounds very reasonable.

Ahh, yes yes yes to Adam Silvera! I can only speak for They Both Die at the End, but it’s one of my new favorite books and I enjoyed it as it simultaneously crushed my soul. XD
Hopefully I’ll like it! A few other people have also told me that the Divergent books get worse as the series goes on, so I really don’t have high expectations for them…
Thank you so much, Hannah! And thanks for your lovely comment!❤️

oh gosh. soul-crushing books are my favorite kinds. i'm even more excited now, if that's even possible?
and yeahh that's the perfect way to describe it. Divergent starts out pretty well, and then it all goes downhill from there. yikes ://

WOW, you’ve got a lot on your hands. I’ve heard of some of these books but I’ve only read a few, so the least I can say is that you’re a far more experienced bookworm than I am. Either that or my library is a small small world. 😛
Anyway, happy reading to you! I was wondering if you’ve read Inkheart (Cornelia Funke), because I wanted reviews from people I know before I actually get into it. I’ve seen all sorts of reviews so I was wondering…?
Thanks!
