I’m back at it again with the mini reviews.
This summer has basically been one massive reading and blogging marathon for me, and I’ve been slacking on my reviews lately, so it’s no surprise that today’s post features lots of mini reviews. Shh, no, I’m not scared of full reviews at all. I read all these books in June, but I still can’t wait to scream about them today!
Much to everyone’s shock, especially my own, this post will not only have YA contemporaries in it but also a fantasy novel! I know, the day that I don’t post solely about contemporaries deserves to become some sort of holiday. Or it should at least have a plaque in its honor because this is monumental.
I’m looking forward to talking about all the good books I’ve been reading lately, so without more nonsense rambling, besides this important reminder to go vote in the 2019 Book Blogger awards, let’s get into the reviews!

We’ve all been new bloggers.
Blogging as a new blogger can be incredibly difficult. It’s already difficult (but rewarding!) to be a seasoned blogger, so it’s a given that starting out is going to be hard. All the advice posts and blogging 101 posts in the world can help push you in the right direction, but figuring out all these “blogging things” is something that has to come with experience.
From my time as a blogger (not that I’m any expert, just someone who’s been in the community for a few short years), I’ve learned a lot of things that I wish I would have known back when I started. I could write an advice post, but I’ve done that before and I know there are tons of other incredible ones out there, so I think it would be more beneficial (and hopefully entertaining) if I wrote about things no one tells you about blogging!
Everything on my list is something that I either didn’t hear about or never read about in an advice post but that I think could be helpful to new bloggers and relatable to bloggers who have been around for a while.
Without further ado, let’s get into the post!

A lot of my favorite things are in this post.
I love Harry Potter, I love collaborating with my fellow bloggers, and I love Lily from Sprinkles of Dreams! All of these are featured in today’s post, and I have to say, I’m incredibly excited and happy about it.✨
In this collab, Lily and I are giving you all book recommendations based on Harry Potter characters! Because yes, we’re obsessed. Lily is going to be guest posting in this post (I’m just here for the intro) about book recs for Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood and on Lily’s blog, I gave recs for all the Marauders.
It was an honor to work with Lily on this collaboration! If you don’t know Lily, I highly recommend that you go visit her beautiful blog and get to know her. She has the sweetest, most welcoming, encouraging personality! We’ve bonded over so many things in the fairly short time we’ve known each other through the blogosphere, and I think everyone who knows her can also speak to her angelic, kind nature.
She’s a wonderfully bright light in the community, and I’m so happy to be able to collab with her. My hope is that I can introduce some people to her and her blog because they are both truly phenomenal!
Without further ado, I’m going to hand this over to Lily, and I’ll see you all at the end of this post. 😉

It’s time to answer all your burning questions about me!
Just kidding. I’m pretty sure no one is that curious, and it’s likely that you forgot you submitted questions to a Q&A in the first place…but hey! You did! And today I’m going to answer them for you. I hope my exuberance is coming through the computer screen at you right now.
Back at the beginning of June, I had a google form in one of my posts that invited you to ask any questions about me! The Q&A is in honor of Purely Olivia reaching 500 followers, which by the way, I am still crying over
asjdiewlncs thank you. So many of you submitted some great questions and I’m looking forward to answering them in this post!
There are so many questions about all kinds of topics- reading, blogging, writing, dance, and a lot of other random things too?? This is quite a long post, so please settle in, get a snack or a cup of hot cocoa, and enjoy. 😉
Without further ado, let’s get to answering some questions!

So. Hyped books are a thing.
If I’ve learned anything from being in the book blogging community, it is that hyped books are a real thing that genuinely affects people’s (ahem, my) TBR and honestly end up dictating a lot of what we as bookworms read. They’re legitimately a huge part of being a reader!
It’s probably going a little far to call it a controversy, but I think readers can have pretty strong feelings about the fact that hyped books exist, and that’s why I wanted to write this blog post. I have a love-hate relationship with the idea of hyping up books, and I thought it would be interesting to write my thoughts about it and then see what all of you think, too!
At the end of this post, because we all know book recommendations are amazing (besides the fact that they continue to feed our
pet monsters TBRs), I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite books that were hyped up for me. Wait. That means I am feeding the hype? Help, I’m already confused and we’re 170 words in.
Without further ado, into the post!

There are a lot of ways to my heart.
Chocolate, puppies, an unusual amount of Harry Potter knowledge…and a good, loyal, adorable fictional friend group. I truly can’t resist any of these.
The more I read, the more I notice certain things that draw me towards a book or series (or what solidifies it as one of my all-time favorites), and one factor that consistently influences my love for a story is if there’s an amazing friend group. I’m a sucker for a good and supportive friend group, and I will never stop screaming about this.
I wish every book had a squad worthy of #squadgoals (yes, I also can’t believe I am using this hashtag), but the ones that do certainly have a special place in my heart. In this post, I’m going to be talking about some of my favorite fictional friend groups!
I might be having slight existential crises over how much I love all of these, but my hope is that I can introduce you all to at least one new friend group for you to obsess over. If I can do that, then I’ll consider this post a success. 😉
All right, without further ado, cue the fangirling!

In case you didn’t know, book bloggers are beyond amazing.
Book bloggers not only balance normal life (meaning work, school, relationships, anything they have going on) with reading (because we need books like we need oxygen) but on top of all that they blog about it too?? Yes, they deserve all the love and adoration in the world.
Taking into account all the time and effort my fellow book bloggers put into maintaining blogs (and being the absolute best humans while doing it), I can’t think of any better way to nominate them than to participate in the 2019 Book Blogger Awards.
These awards, formerly held by Joce @ Write Through the Night (she’s now a retired book blogger), are being hosted by May @ Forever and Everly this year, and I’m so, so excited to be participating. A huge thank you to May for taking on this project- I know it’s going to help boost so many bloggers and it’s so wonderful that she’s continuing it!
In this post, I’m going to be sharing my nominations for all the categories and also talking a little bit about all the bloggers I’m nominating. You all know me, I can talk forever, especially about people I love. 😉
If you want more information on how to participate (which you should definitely participate!!) then definitely go check out May’s post where she talks about all the rules, gives all the categories, and just, in general, informs you about the entire awards.

June was slow and a whirlwind all at the same time.
You know when you look back at a month’s accomplishments and it simultaneously feels like it’s been that month for ages, but also feels like time is slipping by you too fast? No, is this just me having an existential crisis?
Whether or not I’m the only one who feels that way- that’s how June felt to me! I read a lot of books and blogged a lot and ate way too many snowcones. Essentially, it was an incredibly *summer* month and yes, I have officially begun rambling and we’re only 99 words into this post.
All of that to say, in this post I’m going to be recapping the month of June. I feel like a lot happened (but also nothing at all?) and I’m looking forward to properly squealing about what I read and what I did and all the normal things I usually talk about on here.
So, without further ado, cue the post!
