The Evermore Book Tag // Taylor Swift Made My 2020 (Again)

It’s been almost three weeks now, but I still can’t wrap my brain around the release of evermore.

I haven’t fully recovered from the surprise release of folklore months ago, and now we have evermore too? Not only do I feel as if we’re undeserving of this incredible music, I’m surprised my heart survived listening to 15 new Taylor Swift songs. I’m completely in love with the new album and will be talking about how much I adore every song for the next decade or so- meaning, when I got tagged for the evermore book tag, participating in it was absolutely mandatory.

It warmed my heart so much to be tagged by Rhi, Aria, and Lauren for this tag, because I’ve loved talking about Taylor with all of them and it especially meant a lot that they still thought of me even though I haven’t posted on my blog in upwards of four months. Thank you so much you wonderful humans- please go read their posts and visit their lovely blogs. <33

In other news, I’m back (!!) after the longest accidental hiatus I have ever taken, and I’m using the release of evermore as my excuse to return because I couldn’t let this opportunity to talk about Taylor Swift and books in the same post pass me by. I also redesigned my blog, leaving me feeling a lot more inspired and hopefully on track to begin posting again, if not consistently, then at least semi-consistently. I’ve missed this blog and the people in the community SO much the past few months- so I’m feeling pretty emo about this return. :’)

Rules For the Tag~

  • Link back to the original creator and her post: Rhi @ marshmallow harmonies
  • Tag at least three people
  • Declare the rules and list of prompts in your post
  • Thank whoever tagged you and link to their post
  • Pingback to original post so they’re all in one place to read

As another side note, I will be using the very beautiful graphics that Rhi created, so all credit goes to her for that as well. I’m also going to include my favorite lyrics from each song, just because I think this is Taylor’s best album lyrically and any chance to show off her skills is one that I will be taking (I say that as if I know her, but you know, I do feel like a proud mom).

Not to be a broken record, but I stand by the fact that The Raven Cycle is one of the most romantic series I’ve ever read. The slowburn relationships throughout the series have my entire heart, as do the many quotes from it that essentially are why I believe in love. (I could go into more detail, but I don’t want any spoilers, so maybe in another post?) To say that I was rooting for Blue and Gansey and Adam and Ronan would be an understatement, so I have to put The Raven King for this one.

the more that you say, the less I know

wherever you stray I follow

I’m begging for you to take my hand, wreck my plans

that’s my man

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I don’t know if saying I hated the relationship between Charlie and Sam in The Perks of Being a Wallflower is accurate, but their relationship certainly confused me. I wanted them to be best friends and have a sweet platonic relationship, but it eventually got too complicated and then I was sad because they were just such good friends and I didn’t want it to turn messy. So, while this movie is one of my comfort movies and literally made me cry because of how good it was, I’m not a fan of the book.

your mom’s ring in your pocket

her picture in your wallet

your heart was glass I dropped it

champagne problems

Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer, #2)

As if I wasn’t already intrigued by the magical world created in Strange the Dreamer, I become utterly captivated by Muse of Nightmares. I don’t usually like sequels more than the first book, but I genuinely cannot express my love for this book. I couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t get enough of Lazlo and Sarai, I couldn’t stop myself from being thrust into this world head over heels. I also just feel like this goes along so nicely with the song gold rush because it’s so shiny and beautiful. :,)

what must it be like

to grow up that beautiful

with your hair falling into place like dominoes

my mind turns your life into folklore

10 Blind Dates

This book isn’t exactly fake dating, but it’s about a girl going on different blind dates set up for her by her family- AND it’s set at Christmastime, so I feel like it fits this song very well. I love 10 Blind Dates immeasurably and probably mention it a little too much, but what else am I to do when such a sweet, funny, heartwarming book exists? I seriously think this song could become the soundtrack for this book, and if there ever is a Netflix adaptation of this novel (which there should be), tis the damn season would most definitely be playing during a montage of her dates.

we could call it even, you could call me babe for the weekend

tis the damn season, write this down

I’m staying at my parent’s house

and the road not taken looks real good now

The House in the Cerulean Sea

Maybe this book has gotten the hype it deserves and I just haven’t been there to see it, but I fully believe The House in the Cerulean Sea should be mentioned a lot more. This book was a magical, whimsical adventure from start to finish. Reading it felt like returning to my childhood in the best way possible. There is nothing I enjoy more than gangs of talented children, kind adults who listen to the children, and magic, and I was left very satisfied by this heartwarming tale.

I made you my temple, my mural, my sky

now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life

The Cheerleaders

It’s only fitting that I use a murder mystery for this one, so The Cheerleaders it is. I was completely intrigued throughout the duration of this novel, and definitely fell for the red herrings in it. I ended up being satisfied with the ending, further convincing me that something just hits different at the end of a mystery novel. It escapes me how someone can write such a intricate mystery with so many facets, but I’m grateful Kara Thomas can, because it makes for a fascinating read.

and his mistress moved in

sleeps in Este’s bed and everything

no, there ain’t no doubt

somebody’s gotta catch him out

Foolish Hearts

I can’t put my finger on a character that I heavily relate to, or whose experiences mirror mine exactly, but I do find a kindred spirit in Claudia from Foolish Hearts. We aren’t eerily alike (I don’t have Gideon, for one), but I see similarities between us for sure: we both are introverted, we take what others think of us directly to heart, and we find ourselves putting others and their opinions of us first a lot of the time. We also both enjoy boy bands and obsessing over music and have close bonds with our siblings. :’)

I hope she’ll be a beautiful fool

who takes my spot next to you

no, I didn’t mean that, sorry I can’t see facts

through all of my fury

The Unlikelies

I was absolutely astounded by how much I feel in love with the friend group in The Unlikelies. Friendships formed due to the characters being do-gooders? What could be more wholesome. I already know that I need to reread this to properly re-experience the love between this friend group, but I remember there being an exorbitant amount of banter, positivity, and found family energy. Just give me all the fluffy contemporaries with sweet friendships and I will be happy.

and damn dorothea, they all wanna be ya

but are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers?

House of Salt and Sorrows

My mind instantly went to House of Salt and Sorrows– a book that I still cannot get over, even months after I originally read it. I don’t think I can recover from the prose in this book because it was so atmospheric, descriptive, and magical. I’m not sure how to describe it other than that reading this book was like being enveloped by fog while you stand on the cliff of a mystical island. I could nearly feel the world being created around me as I read. How utterly eerie and magical this novel was….okay, I’ve convinced myself to read it again.

and when I got into the accident

the sight that flashed before me was your face

but when I walked up to the podium

I think that I forgot to say your name

Today Tonight Tomorrow

I very recently read Today Tonight Tomorrow, and I think it was full of small yet difficult choices. The story follows the valedictorian and salutatorian on the last day of their senior year, chronicling the end of their constant competition. Not only are they literally solving a scavenger hunt, but I think the characters develop a lot in a short period of time due to the choices they must make. I found myself admiring and despising some of the choices Rowan and Neil made as they decided how much to trust each other and how much to trust themselves. (Side note, this book caused me some stress and sadness over graduating soon, so maybe don’t read it as a high school senior.)

oh, goddamn

my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand

taking mine, but it’s been promised to another

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)

What I wouldn’t give to live in Anne of Green Gables‘s Avonlea…oh, to grow up on Prince Edward Island and be the best of friends with Anne Shirley. (I’m sorry, Diana, but I would become you in an instant in order to be close to Anne.) I genuinely cannot think of a more idyllic childhood than running through flower fields with Anne and naming the nature we encounter- in summary, I’m sad Avonlea isn’t real and that I was not born there, but I’m mostly mourning the fact that Anne Shirley is not in fact someone who can be a kindred spirit with me.

oh, I thought

this is going to be one of those things

now I know

I’m never gonna love again

The Mother-Daughter Book Club

I have quite a few middle grade series that I continuously turn back to, but one that I feel like I’ve barely ever mentioned here is The Mother-Daughter Book Club. The author of this series is the reason why I even blog (her blog was the first one I ever read and how I found other book blogs), but I also just adore this series with everything in me. I know the characters like the back of my hand and every time I’m sick or even if I just don’t have a book to read at the moment, I get one of these off my bookshelf and fall back in love with it.

long story short, it was a bad time

long story short, I survived

The Astonishing Color of After

I did not love this book as much as I wanted to, but I do think that The Astonishing Color of After has a truly beautiful depiction of grief. The main character, Leigh, is dealing with the death of her mother and her mother has shown up to her in the form of a bird. The family messages and culture infused into this novel were my favorite part of it and even though it got tediously long at parts, I do think the grief and death was dealt with very well.

I should’ve asked you questions

I should’ve asked you how to be

asked you to write it down for me

Lucky Caller

It’s no secret that I have unequivocally loved every book I have read by Emma Mills. I couldn’t think of anyone else to put here other than her because I have never been disappointed by any of her novels and they just keep getting better and better. I feel like she tends to release a new novel every yearish, so hopefully 2021 will bring a new Emma Mills book? I know I’ll be eagerly anticipating anything else she writes. (Featured is her newest novel, which I loved so, so much.)

don’t treat me like

some situation that needs to be handled

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)

Will be stealing Aria’s answer for this one because I can’t think of anything that fits this prompt more perfectly than Crooked Kingdom. If you know, then you know, and if you don’t know, I’m slightly envious of you. (But mostly not, because I have no regrets about reading this breathtakingly beautiful duology.) Either way, I did not go into this novel expecting to love it so much and I also did not expect to be quite so broken by it. The pain of this novel will, indeed, be evermore.

can’t remember

what I used to fight for

I rewind the tape, but all it does is pause

on the very moment all was lost

I tag anyone who is reading this and wants to participate, but a few people that I have talked about Taylor Swift in the past with who might like to participate are~

Ruby // Kay // Ash // Marie

There we have it, my overwhelming love for Taylor Swift and books combined into one post! I can’t explain how good it felt to write on here again, especially about two topics I’m so passionate about. I promise that I will have more content coming soon, and that I haven’t forgotten about ideas that started to take form before I took my hiatus, like the Blogger Origins series or my Q&A. :))

I can’t thank you all enough for continuing to support me and be the kindest people ever even when I disappear for so long. <33 I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy and that you are having a lovely holiday season, whatever you may celebrate. I’ll see you all again very soon!

What do you think of evermore? Favorite songs? How did you react to it? Have you read any of these books? Please scream about all of it with me in the comments.

  1. Olivia you have no idea how I could feel my heart burst when I saw this in Reader… missed you and your blog 100000x more than I thought I did 😭 I’m not sure what it is, but there’s truly something so comforting about Purely Olivia. First of all *clears throat*, welcome back to the blogosphere, and how have these past few months been for you? I do hope that things have been okay *virtual hugs* Secondly: your new design is… so gorgeous?? The florals and the mustard yellow go so well together. I don’t know if it’s the current season or the tag, but your blog has such a folklore + evermore vibe I LOVE IT.

The way you described House of Salt and Sorrows… oof the imagery!! Anything with beautiful prose equals something to cry over and we need this. Oh, how did I not think about Anne of Green Gables YES a thousand times? I’d love to visit Prince Edward Island as well and find the Avonlea of our world. I’m just going to stop myself from talking about Crooked Kingdom… not only did it break my everything, but the dregs also stole it (lol) and just shattered it beyond repair.

Now *deep breath* onto evermore – as long as you don’t get annoyed of me I will forever scream about Taylor Swift with you. I’ve just been listening to the album on repeat, but some of the songs that I added to other playlists are champagne problems, tolerate it, coney island, and marjorie (almost accidentally listed like… half of evermore lol).

Enjoyed reading your post so so much xx Sending you uplifting energy for the new year and good luck with your apps! Love you, remember to take care of yourself 💗💕

    • You have no idea how happy this comment made me.🥺I definitely just sat here reading it with the biggest smile ever on my face…thank you so much, Aria! That’s the biggest compliment you could ever give me, wow, thank you a thousand times over. xx The past few months have been quite the series of highs and lows, but I’m so happy to be back- coming back to the blogosphere always feels so comforting because of people like you. *virtual hugs you back* How have you been?

I want to go to Prince Edward Island so bad too! Even though Avonlea isn’t real, I love that there’s still the chance to go to P.E. Island and glimpse at least some of the magic. Oh my gosh, you’re right, my heart was both broken and stolen during Crooked Kingdom…oh, that one hurt.

I could NEVER be annoyed, nothing would make me happier than to continuously scream about evermore with you! I’ve been listening to it so much too (am actually listening to it as I type, closure is currently on lol). Listing half the album when asked for a favorite is highly relatable.😌 I love all of those! The bridge to champagne problems is way too good. And Coney Island is such a vibe, I don’t know how to explain it, but it just hits so different.

Thank you again for all the kind words! This comment genuinely means the world to me. <33 Much love for you, I hope you're staying safe and doing well. xx I can't wait to read all your lovely posts now that I'm back:))

      • No worries, I’m so lucky to be able to find people like you right when I started blogging! Love chatting with you, always makes me so happy :)) Hope you’re staying safe as well xx Same like how you worded it – highs and lows. Thinking of how it’s the 29th now while listening to evermore (the song) feels so nostalgic and emotional for some reason. I’ve heard that PEI is absolutely gorgeous, it seems like the cliffs overhanging the lapping waves is where time stops momentarily.

Haha same, currently listening to it as well. Finished the album again and we’re back to willow again lol. Oof it’s so so bittersweet and that fact that taylor swift and joe alwyn wrote champagne problems together…. (can you hear me sobbing). Don’t know why but the line “now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life” from tolerate it just breaks me every time?? The way Taylor has with words and her storytelling abilities will forever be beyond my comprehension.

        Liked by 1 person

        • I feel the same! And wow, you’re right, listening to evermore while reflecting back on 2020 is a very emotional experience. I know what song I’ll have on repeat for the next two days…

Oh, Willow just came on as I was reading that you were listening to it, that’s so funny! OKAY, I know right?! Taylor and Joe are out here co-writing breakup songs, what a power duo. That’s my favorite line from tolerate it, it just hits so well- she is unmatched in her songwriting abilities. *cries*

  2. Ah honestly I feel the same way about returning to blogging. And I’m glad you’re back!!! Ohh I absolutely adore Muse of Nightmares too. I was in high school the first time I read one of Laini Taylor’s books and then again in college, I was so excited to buy a shiny new hardback from Waterstones. Sometimes it feels like we grow up alongside the books we read..I don’t even know if that makes sense haha. And I totally agree that The House in the Cerulean Sea deserves more hype!! It’s a cinnamon roll of a book.
It’s been a long time since I saw The Mother-Daughter Book Club mentioned anywhere but it also used to be one of my favorite series in middle school. I actually don’t know why I stopped reading it but I remember getting so excited about borrowing each book out from the library.
Evermore is really great! I think I’m more in love with the songs from Folklore though – and a lot of Taylor Swift’s old albums. I think it takes awhile for songs to grow on me though so I’ll probably be saying the same thing about Evermore in a few months.

    • Thank you so much, Rachana!❤️ I’m looking forward to reading more of Laini Taylor’s work because of all it so far has blown me completely away. No, I understand the growing up alongside books so much- that’s why I have such an attachment to so many middle grade books, haha. Ahh, the MDBC, such good memories. I love how the series inspires young readers to also pick up classics, just like the girls in the series do- it’s such a good way to introduce literature at a middle grade level. I get that about evermore! It’s starting to grow on me more and more but I’m the same way, it takes me a while to fully fall in love with an album. Thank you for this comment! xx

  3. aahhhh welcome back, Olivia! i’m so happy to see that you’re back and am looking forward to reading your lovely posts again ☺️ i also still cannot believe that Taylor blessed us with TWO WHOLE ALBUMS this year, she’s a real icon 😭 i’ve been having evermore on repeat for the past 3 weeks, haha, and my favorite songs from the album are ’tis the damn season, champagne problems, and dorothea (what about you?)

i really enjoyed reading this post and your responses to the tag, and now i feel like doing this tag as well and hopefully returning to blogging (i can’t believe my last blog post was almost 2 years ago now 😭). i am so excited to read The House in the Cerulean Sea because i’ve seen nothing but wonderful reviews for it! and i smiled so much seeing Emma Mills in this post – Foolish Hearts is absolutely wonderful and i still need to get around to reading Lucky Caller ahhh 💕

hope you are doing well and sending you all the good vibes ✨

I would love to read a post from you again, but please take all the time you need and just know that we’ll all be cheering you on from afar and excited whenever you are ready to return.💛 Speaking from experience, the evermore book tag is a very fun post to come back with, though. ;))

Evermore is on repeat all the time for me too (right now too lol)!! Agh, I love all of those- I think my top three are champagne problems, tis the damn season, and tolerate it but I literally love them all so much and cannot stop talking about it. Dorothea is so cute and has been growing on me a LOT the past few days too.🥺 I hope you enjoy The House in Cerulean Sea, it couldn’t be any more heartwarming and adorable!!

Thank you so much, this comment was so kind! I really appreciate it and I’m sending you all the best too. xx

  4. ahh!! olivia!! my heart started beating 100x faster when i saw your post in my reader!! i love the blog make-over!! i adored your blog earlier as well, but now it’s so pretty!! the navy and mustard hints complement each other so well, and the florals are so gorgeous!! i can’t wait to *hopefully* see more posts from you soon!! ❤

evermore was such a wonderful album, and my current favourites would have to be champagne problems, no body, no crime, and willow, though all the songs are phenomenal!! crooked kingdom completely broke me, and we NEED a third book like right now!! i’m also so excited for the adaptation (i stan kaz so much he’s the literal definition of perfect)!! i also made an evermore book tag, so seeing rhi’s prompts, and how they were different, and seeing a whole new perspective on things, was amazing!! i also love all the books you’ve chosen for each of the prompts!! some of them fit so perfectly!! i man – who wouldn’t want to grow up on prince edward island!!

anyway, i loved reading this post so much, and i hope you’re safe, and reading lots of amazing books!! good luck with school and with your college applications!! i can’t express how much i loved reading your post!! ❤

I love all of those! Champagne problems seems to be a common favorite (it’s my top favorite as well) and I’m so glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves because…that BRIDGE. I can’t wait for the SOC adaptation either! It still escapes me that it actually exists, I hope it’s amazing. Ahh, that’s so exciting you also made an evermore tag, too, this album deserves all the love in the world.

Thank you again, oh my goodness, this is so kind! I’m so excited to read more of your posts and talk with you more. xx Happy new year!

  5. Ahh.. Olivia I love the new design, I love the blue details so much. It is stunning!! 😍 I’ve yet to listen to all of Taylor’s new stuff but I’m so glad you loved it.
Yess the raven cycle was amazing with the slow burns!! I loved it!! 😍
10 blind dates does have such a fun plot premise and I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! I also love how you have started planning the movie adaptation. 🤣 I hope it comes true!! 🤞🏻
Today, tomorrow, tonight sounds like a book I would really enjoy but I can see why it can cause a little stress with the topic!!
I loved reading this post so much Olivia. It was so nice to see your content again 🥰 I hope you are well and happy too!! 💛

    • Sophie, thank you so, so much!!❤️🥺 Ahh, if you are able to find the chance to listen to some of evermore I definitely recommend- it’s such a good vibe.
I know right! *cries in Blue and Gansey*
Haha, I’m really out here completely mapping out a movie adaptation that doesn’t exist yet. But wouldn’t it be the cutest movie ever? I think Netflix is missing out on what could be its biggest holiday rom com of 2021. ;))
I think you would enjoy Today Tonight Tomorrow! So much happened in such a short book (and short amount of time within the book), but I thought it was really sweet and captured the bittersweet feeling of growing up very accurately.
Thank you, and thank you for leaving such a kind comment! I always love talking with you. xx

  6. *unfurls giant banner and fires the confetti cannon* WELCOME BACK, OLIVIA!! Your new blog design is GORGEOUS, and I’m so happy to be reading one of your posts again 🙂
Ack, the movie of The Perks of Being a Wallflower… *cries* I love Charlie so much ❤
I'm such a huge advocate of best friends and sweet platonic relationships that don't have to develop into something complicated/romantic. Please. Give us close friends who don't fall in love, I'm BEGGING you.
Ok, but the WAFFLES in Crooked Kingdom. They got to actually EAT waffles instead of just talking about them. I mean…that's probably not the part that emotionally broke you, but… I'd say it's worth getting emotional over.

    Liked by 1 person

    • This made me smile so much! Thank you very much for the banner and confetti and very kind welcome.🥰 Ahh, thank you, thank you.
I LOVE the movie so much! I hate to say that I like a movie more than the book, but that certainly is the case for me with The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Nothing can top the tunnel scene…and yes, yes! I’m nodding along, you’re absolutely right.
Honestly, the fact that waffles are even included throughout Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom is enough to get emotional about, I would say. ;))

  7. ahh welcome back, olivia!!! 🥺💕 i missed you so much and seeing a post of yours in my reader just made me so happy! taylor swift truly saved 2020 twice and i’m still not okay over evermore lol!! 😭 what are your favorite songs?

i was definitely rooting for the relationships in the raven cycle too, the gangsey has my heart 🥺 also, 10 blind dates as a Netflix romcom with ’tis the damn season playing during a montage is such a perfect idea that i wish would happen soon!! the house in the cerulean sea is on my tbr and i really hope i can get to it asap – i’ve heard such amazing things about it and seeing you talk about it just made me want to read it more. 💖

this was so lovely to read and i can’t wait for your future posts!! 🥰 also your new blog design is so, so pretty, i love it!!! 🤩💖

    • Thank you so much, Ash! Welcome back to you too- I’m so glad we returned at the same time, I felt the same way when I saw your post in my reader the other day.🥰 I am far from over evermore as well- okay, top four is champagne problems, tis the damn season, tolerate it, and cowboy like me, what about you??

Ahh, the gangsey, they do own my heart. I’m hoping Netflix will somehow read this post and take my 10 Blind Dates proposal to heart and perhaps also adapt The Raven Cycle while they’re at it, because that would genuinely be a dream.👀 I hope you love The House on Cerulean Sea when you read it! I think you’ll enjoy the whimsical adventures in it.

Thank you, ahh!! Sending you a virtual hug.❤️

yes!!! netflix better read this because trc would make such a great tv show and 10 blind dates would be the perfect netflix romcom 😭 thank you, i can’t wait!!

  8. OLIVIA. Ahaha, this is like the technological equivalent of me getting excited and yelling someone’s name when I see them in person.
When you said you redesigned your blog, I immediately clicked out of my WordPress reader into your blog. I love the blue accents, and the font.
AH, we both read Today Tonight Tomorrow and The House On the Cerulean Sea during the past few months, ahaha that’s amazing. Okay we should have a short recap of our thoughts here. Today Tonight Tomorrow — it was a solid YA contemporary romance. I might be getting my books mixed up, but I’m pretty confident there was this one line from the beginning where she gets sentimental about her last morning shower of high school, and I wrote it down in my notebook. The House On the Cerulean Sea — solid fantasy that’s just fun. Sometimes you want to get lost into a whole new world with super evil villains and a lot of magic, but sometimes you just need a bunch of kids living in a house next to the sea.

    • ANNIE! This is me doing the excited yelling thing back. :)) Thank you so much! I don’t know if this was just me, but changing the font on my blog felt like a big deal, so thank you for the validation that you like it, haha.
I’m pretty sure (actually, very sure) that I read them both because of you, so thank you! No, you’re right, I think that was Today Tonight Tomorrow- at least it makes sense that it would be that book, because I remember the first chapter was her getting really sentimental about everything. My short recap- I agree that it was a solid romance, and I liked the nerdy relatable parts and how the guy had told his family about her over their high school years. It was so cute but made me emotional over graduating. The House on Cerulean Sea recap- I agree with you! I liked how all the kids were so unique and very distinct from each other. Overall, a very magical and heartwarming story that gave me definite Mysterious Benedict Society vibes (did you ever read that?).

      Liked by 1 person

      • YES, I love it — the cursive, and then the smaller font gives me a slight typewriter vibe.
I kind of want to look up a list of books about people in their senior year and read a bunch of them in May or something. To really just amplify the sentimental feelings.
Yes, I read Mysterious Benedict Society!! It’s a classic in my mind. I very much see the comparison.
Okay, not related but just necessary to talk about — Angie Thomas’s new book comes out this month??

Oh, wow. That’s like the reading equivalent of listening to sad songs that you know will make you cry- a very specific form of self sabotage that you oddly have me wanting to try out.
MBS is definitely a classic. Ahh, are you talking about Concrete Rose? *goes to Goodreads, double checks, sees yes* Have you read it yet?

          • Yes, you understand exactly what I mean. Okay, and Epic Reads has a list for this? Here are some of them: Leah on the Offbeat, Always and Forever Lara Jean, That Thing We Call a Heart.
No, I haven’t yet!! I think I have it on hold at the library however, and if I don’t, that needs to be changed.

            • Ahh, there’s a list?? That’s even better. I’ve read Leah on the Offbeat and Always and Forever Lara Jean, but I’m going to go put the other one on my TBR right now. Oh, that reminds me, have you seen the new Always and Forever Lara Jean movie? I watched it the other night and I have…many thoughts.
I need to put it on hold too! (Although I always accidentally miss my holds so maybe I’ll just play the game of chance and check if it’s there next time I go to the library.)

                • I’m interested to know what you think! I liked it, but I think the first one will always be the best. It was also a little sad to watch the characters be the class of 2021 and actually have a prom and everything, haha. No I haven’t been watching it but I want to!! Have you?

  9. Welcome back Olivia!! I’ve missed you and your posts, it was such a welcome surprise to see this one!! The new blog design looks wonderful too!! Hehe posts featuring both Queen Taylor and books are so powerful. It would be so cool to visit Avonlea, even Queen’s and Redmond 😅 having Anne as a kindred spirit would be so so amazing…and the Mother Daughter Book Club was really good, I loved the dynamics between the girls. Crooked Kingdom ended so beautifully 😭 incredible finish. The Netflix adaptation is supposed to arrive in April and I can’t handle the wait!! I can’t wait to see more of your lovely posts, have a wonderful rest of your year!!

    • Thank you so much, Eleanor!! Your kind words mean so much to me.💛(And I apologize for this very late reply!) I completely agree, Taylor and books make for one of the very best possible combinations. ;)) Ahh, what I wouldn’t give to be friends with Anne Shirley! Oh my goodness, I’ve heard that the Netflix adaptation for the Grishaverse is coming soon and I’m eagerly anticipating it, I can’t wait to see what it’s like. Thank you again! xx

  10. Ahhh welcome back Olivia!! I swear I was just thinking about you wondering how you’re doing and then I saw this post and my heart went ❤ ❤ also your new blog aesthetic is so cute ahh I love it!

Also literally I'm listening to evermore right now like I was listening to folklore when I saw your folklore tag ahaha I am so predictable and I own up to it because miss Taylor has singlehandedly saved 2020. my favorite song is definitely champagne problems and then no body no crime. but tbh I still haven't fully digested the album so my favorites might still shuffle around

House of Salt and Sorrows has the most gorgeous prose for sure! and The Mother Daughter Book Club is such a comfort book too I just reread it because I just (finally!!) watched the Little Women 2019 movie and I feel wrapped in a warm hug (and also literally I saw a youtube video of champagne problems with jo and Laurie and it bROKE me I am a mess now). honestly the only thing that ever broke me more was the ending of crooked kingdom so checks out I'll probably steal that answer when I do this tag too haha

    • Aww, thank you Kay!! That’s so sweet of you!! I hope you’re doing well, it’s been forever since we talked, how is college going??

THE PREDICTABILITY IS EVERYTHING. But also like same because I’m 100% always listening to folklore or evermore. I love both of those so much, my favorites have definitely shifted in the past couple months but I love all of her songs so much that I find it close to impossible to pick a *favorite.* Maybe champagne problems?? Or gold rush?? Or tolerate it?? Or cowboy like me? I’ll stop now.

Oh my goodness, I love The Mother Daughter Book Club so much and shamelessly will reread it all the time. OKAY I have seen so many tiktoks of champagne problems with Jo and Laurie and even though I support Laurie and Amy I can’t help but get very emotional at all of them. Thank you for this comment!! I’m sorry for my VERY late reply.

  11. This tag is so enjoyable omg. I actually really got into Taylor’s two recent albums. I enjoy her country stuff bc I ❤ country music, but I could never get into her pop phase. However, these two alternative, beautiful, and storytelling albums are just GOLD. I'm so with you on evermore being CK. ugh. my heart hurts all over again. I think my no body, no crime pick would be The Queen of Nothing, and YES I am with you on Anne for cowboy like me. I'd probably have to add Narnia & Middle-Earth to that as well :') always good to see you back in my reader again ❤ xxx

    • Ahh, I’m so happy you love her newest music! I’m unhealthily obsessed with all her music, but I do admit I also have a soft spot for her country as well. :’) Ohh, I’m really glad to hear that Queen of Nothing satisfied you because I’ve only read The Cruel Prince, but I have plans to *at some point* read the rest of the series and I’m happy to know I will most likely very much like it. Thank you so much, Macey!! I’m sorry for this late reply, but this comment was so sweet and made me smile. 💛

  12. AHH, OLIVIA, YOU’RE BACK. YAYYY! Aw, I love this tag. I’m so impressed with Taylor. One album in a year is awesome enough, but two?? That’s incredible. And I love both of them.
I’ve actually read most of the books that you mentioned. The Raven Cycle series does have such good romance, Crooked Kingdom broke me, The Mother-Daughter Book Club is such a good series, 10 Blind Dates would make an amazing Netflix rom-com, and I would love, love, love it if Avonlea was a real place, and I could be friends with Anne. She reminds me so much of myself, so I’m sure we’d have lots of fun together.
Again, I’m SO happy you’re back!!! Yay.

    • AWW- thank you for the kind welcome back!! I’m sorry for accidentally disappearing again and taking so long to reply to this comment, but I really appreciate it.🥰 I know, we’re so lucky to have gotten so much from Taylor in 2020, especially with the new releases starting this year. *cries* I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one that would want to see 10 Blind Dates as a Netflix rom com!! I think it would seriously be such a hit, it’s genuinely one of the most adorable and heartwarming books ever. Ahh, yes, the fun times I could have with Anne…thank you again, McKayla!!

  13. I’m so glad you’re back, Olivia!! Your blog redesign looks so pretty and I absolutely love it!

I haven’t done this tag yet, but I’m so excited to! I’m actually currently listening to evermore as I write this comment! Some of my favorite songs so far are champagne problems, ’tis the damn season, coney island (I love The National and was so excited to see that they collaborated on this album!), and evermore.

I absolutely loved Today Tonight Tomorrow when I read it a few months ago and I’m glad you liked it too! Also I completely agree about Avonlea and PEI, I actually got to to PEI in the summer of 2019 and it was so beautiful! It was so cool to see the house that inspired Green Gables and walk down the inspiration for “Lover’s Lane.”

    Great post!!

    • Thank you so, so much Ruby!❤️ I’m sorry for taking so long to reply to this.

Listening to evermore is one hundred percent the best way to read this post. ;)) I am listening to it as I write this comment, as a matter of fact. Ahh, I love all of those! I really need to look more into songs by The National because I thought their feature in coney island was so good. That’s one of my favorite songs as well.

Yay! It was so good.😭 Oh my gosh- THAT IS SO COOL RUBY. Going to PEI is definitely on my bucket list because of how much I love Anne. Wow wow wow I didn’t know you could see the house that inspired Green Gables and everything?? I AM SHOCKED AND EXCITED BY THIS.

      Thank you again! xx

  14. olivia i’m so glad that you’re back 😭😭 i also disappeared from the blogosphere, so i guess we’re twinning lmao. but seriously i’m so happy to see you again on my reader, and ahhh, your new blog design is so pretty 🥺 i’ve heard such good things about the house on the cerulean sea, particularly that it’s a very good comfort read, so i’m highly anticipating picking it up. i need all the serotonin after the year that was 2020 lmao. and i finally read anne!!! i’m so proud of myself that book has been on my tbr since forever & i’ve been telling so many people (including you!) that i need to read it. it definitely didn’t disappoint & i would totally take diana’s place and be anne’s friend too! i feel like we’d never run out of adventures, especially on prince edward island 🥺

    • Thank you very much, Caitlin!! (Judging by my late response to this comment, I haven’t done too well at staying back- I’m sorry for my delayed response in this.💛) That means a lot to me, and I hope you’re doing well<33 I definitely see The House on cerulean Sea as being a very good comfort read and I hope you enjoy it! It's so whimsical and wholesome, two adjectives that usually make for very good comfort reads. AHHH, YOU READ ANNE!! I'm so excited that you got to experience such a lovely book and that you loved it.🥺 The things I would do to drop everything now and run away to Avonlea to be best friends with Anne Shirley…a lot of things.

  15. Ahhh Olivia so lovely to have you back!! Taylor Swift AND a new post from you in one month?? (shh I know it’s January now)
This is such a fun tag! Omg I’m right there with you on TRC being the most romantic series—Maggie stiefvater is incredible at writing that good, good slowburn. And YES The House in the Cerulean Sea deserves ALL the hype!! I definitely found myself relating to Claudia when I read Foolish Hearts too 🙂 That was the first Emma Mills book I read and now I’m so excited to read more of her work!

    • YOU ARE TOO KIND- thank you, Margaret! I’m sorry it took me so long to reply but this comment warmed my heart.❤️
She really is! Even if it’s not the romantic relationships, everything about TRC screams romance to me. Literally even the relationship between Gansey and his car is romanticized. I hope you love anything else that you read by Emma Mills! Foolish Hearts is my top favorite of hers but I really liked all her other novels as well.

  17. oliviaaaa! i am so happy to hear from you again & talking about taylor swift moreover! (btw, i love your new layout!! it’s more mature, i guess i’d say, but still you because of the flowers. love it!) i am so glad you loved the releases of both evermore and folklore. i’m still wrapping my mind around it all, and while it took me some time to fall in love with folklore, i think i’m finally there and loving evermore as well. i think it’s just that both albums kinda had to grow on me a little bit.

recently, i read fans of the impossible life that reminded me a lot of perks of being a wallflower and i also really disliked the relationships there. i feel like they had more potential as just friends, rather than romantic interests, and it was pretty messy and not my favorite at all.

i think the “character arc” is my favorite question, though the hardest! i think it’s challenging to pin point my own “character development” as i think i’m still growing/changing, but i absolutely agree that emma mills’ characters are super relatable. i definitely saw myself in claudia, but also in sloane, the protagonist of this adventure ends. emma mills has definitely become an author i want to read everything of too!

my favorite song from folklore is august, but from evermore i still haven’t chosen between gold rush and evermore. what are your favorites from each album?

    • Lais!! Thank you so so much for all the kind and encouraging words, and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you. <33 Your words about my blog design especially mean a lot, I appreciate that so much!!

I haven't heard of Fans of the Impossible Life until now, but romantic relationships that should have stayed platonic resonates with me. Sometimes I just want them to stay wholesome friends without it becoming messy://

YES, you put it so perfectly somehow- I'm still changing so much that it's hard to see myself in any one character. You're right though, I can see myself in a lot of Emma Mills protagonists, and not just because I want to have their love interests, haha.

That's such a hard question! I think I'd have to say that my favorite song from folklore is cardigan or this is me trying, and my favorites from evermore at the moment (they keep shifting) are champagne problems and cowboy like me.

I really need to read Lucky Caller, it's one Emma Mills I haven't gotten to just yet and it sounds, like all of her books, SO wonderful. ❤ I'm also so eager to read 10 Blind Dates because of you!
