“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”
Stephen King said that, and I completely agree! I love reading, and I also love reviewing books I read so people like you will know what to expect going into them. 🙂 On this page, I’ll be sharing what I will and won’t review and what each star review means.
I’ll review the following genres:
- Realistic fiction
- Historical fiction
- Christian fiction
All the books I review will be clean and appropriate for MG (middle grade) and YA (young adult) readers. I won’t be reviewing any adult books or unclean books.
I rate my books on a scale of 1 star to 5 stars. (There is a 4.5 star rating as well for books that don’t quite make the 5 star cut.) Each book will be given a different rating for specific reasons, but here’s a brief overview of what might cause a book to get a certain rating.
1- I didn’t like it at all. This book just wasn’t for me. I was confused at what was going on, saw something I didn’t like, or just couldn’t get through it. I probably DNF’d.
2- It was okay. I wouldn’t reread it and I probably won’t think about it again. It’s not terrible, but my complaints outweighed my compliments by far. I would avoid reading it unless you really identify with what the book is about.
3- Not bad at all. I thought this book was pretty good! It’s not for everyone, but I can see myself rereading it again sometime. It wasn’t perfect. But it kept me occupied and I enjoyed reading it! No regrets.
4- I really liked this book! It didn’t get five stars for a particular reason, but it deserves readers and a review for sure. Intriguing, interesting, and had a good plot or characters. I’ll be putting this on my bookshelf wish list. It’ll be a good reread!
4.5- It was so close to being a 5 star review. There was just a small something that kept me from giving it a perfect score. Whatever it was, you should read it anyway. I’ll be rereading, buying, and recommending it to everyone who asks!
5- Practically perfect in every single way! I fell in love with this book, and I know you will, too. Absolutely truly should be a #1 New York Times Bestseller.
Thanks for checking out my reviewing policies and ratings! If you have any questions over any of this, always feel welcome to comment on my latest post or any of my reviews, and I’ll be happy to chat with you.
