12 YA Book Recs Based Off TV Shows!! // Stranger Things, Gilmore Girls, Friends, & More

Fictional worlds have my whole heart.

I’ve been in love with books for as long as I can remember, and I think the fact that I’m even here, blogging about books, speaks to that. More recently though, maybe in the past three or so years, I’ve also fallen in love with fictional worlds in multiple TV shows. I love talking about both books and television, so I thought it would be fun to combine both of those loves into one post!

So because I’m actually a Fangirl™ I’m going to be giving book recommendations based off of some of my favorite TV shows. My hope is that if you’ve seen the show and enjoyed it, you might be able to find some books to read. But alternately, if there’s a book you enjoyed, you might get a show recommendation as well!

Don’t take this as an exact translation, since I’m going to focus more on the overarching themes or specific characteristics for each book, but hopefully it can be a pretty accurate depiction of the show versus the books. Also, I think I’m being creative by writing this post?? But if it turns out it’s already been done, please know that I wasn’t aware.

So, for lack of a better way to start the post, let’s get to the recommendations!

5 Books To Read While You’re Social Distancing // Aka My Top Cozy & Heartwarming Recommendations

For me, reading has been such an escape these past few weeks.

Before COVID-19 had blown up where I live, before I was quarantined in my house and I was doing online school and taking dance classes over Zoom, I hadn’t read solidly in months. A book here, finishing a book there, reading this or that required book for school- but I really wasn’t reading for fun anymore.

I definitely still haven’t caught up to my Goodreads challenge yet (I’m still more or less 10 books behind), but with more free time, I’ve started reading a lot more. These days, it feels like my mind is going a million different directions and is perpetually anxious both about the present and future, and reading has become something that’s been able to calm me down, be an escape, and allow me to end my days (and often fill my days) with something that entertains me well.

I’ve discovered some new books recently that I want a chance to talk about (because that’s just me, always screaming about books), and I also of course have some older recommendations, but ultimately, I hope this post can offer you the same comfort books have been giving me lately, and give you something to do while social distancing!

5 Reasons to Read Classics // ft. recommendations & me trying to make you all grandmas like me!!

I really, really like classics.

Despite the fact that they aren’t the most popular of books in the book community, I can’t help but love them, and I realized that I don’t spend enough time shouting from the rooftops just how amazing they are.

Enter this post, where I’m going to be sharing five reasons to read classics! My hope is that I can convince you all to pick up at least one classic, maybe even one from the list of my favorites at the end of this post. I also want this post to show you that reading classics isn’t just for older people! Although I do embrace the grandma spirit inside of me.

Before I get fully into the post, I just wanted to apologize for my lack of activity on the blogosphere lately. I started back at school and dance and I’m much busier than I thought I would be! I have so many comments to respond to and posts to read from all of you, and I’m so sorry that I’m not getting around to it as quick as I want to.

I feel like I’ll just make things worse if I don’t stay on my schedule, so I’m writing this post even though I’m still very behind on my blog hopping and comments. Thank you all for your patience! I can’t wait to hopefully give you all the love you deserve soon.♥

That aside, I seriously do love classics, and I’m going to do all I can to share the love with all of you today! Let’s get started.
