All My Thoughts on Six of Crows // Review + Opinions on the Most Hyped Book of All Time (!!)

I did it. I finally read the most hyped book of all time.

Without fail, I have heard about Six of Crows on nearly every blog. It’s been in recommendation posts, in discussion posts, and it lived on my TBR for longer than I’d like to admit.

The hype grew so much that eventually I was torn between a desperate desire to read it and a just as desperate desire not to read it, because what if it didn’t live up to all my expectations??

All these thoughts reached their apex on March 26th, 2019, the day I started to read Six of Crows. I feel like there should be ominous music playing in the background. Needless, to say…it was all worth it, and all the hype was absolutely right.

In this post, I’m going to be first reviewing Six of Crows! If you haven’t read the book yet, you don’t have to be worried about any part of it getting spoiled in that section. After a quick review, I’m going to be screaming more directly about the book, and while I won’t be explicitly spoiling anything, I don’t recommend reading that part of the post if you haven’t yet read the book. I’ll make sure to differentiate between the sections. 😉

I can’t wait any longer to talk about this book, so let’s get started!

Why I Still Love Dystopians + A Dystopian Review (!!)

Confession time. I still love dystopian books.

I made that sound so dramatic, but for some reason I feel like dystopian books are so underrated these days. These days meaning in 2018. I mean, I can’t think of a dystopian book that I’ve heard people talking about that was published recently. And that makes me sad, because the thing is, I love dystopian.

Today I’m going to be sharing reasons I’m still obsessed with dystopian novels (even though the glory days of The Hunger Games are mostly over *tear*) and also be doing a very exciting review of a dystopian short story I was given the opportunity to read recently. I’m excited, so let’s jump right in!Read More »

Today I have the honor of reviewing my new favorite book.

You know those books that keep you up all night? The ones that you can’t put down? The ones where you fall in love with the characters? Well, A List of Cages was each of those things, and more. It was simply amazing.

I don’t do reviews a lot, but I had to make the exception for this book. It deserves a full review that properly displays just how much I loved it. Prepare yourself for lots of raving.

Rapid Fire Reviews, July Edition {BONUS POST!}

Hello everyone! Welcome to the second ever edition of Rapid Fire Reviews here on Purely Olivia. 🙂

Though I didn’t have the best reading month in July, an upside is that every book I read was a book I was reading for the first time- meaning, no rereads! That’s a pretty big accomplishment for me. You might as well call me the Queen of Rereads.

So, to comemerate commemorate (I just spent quite a few minutes trying to spell that, until Google finally helped out) that occasion, I am going to be doing Rapid Fire Reviews of each book I read in July!

Review of a Writing Handbook {Spilling Ink}

Writing is hard.

That’s the truth. Though it may be fun, it may be rewarding, you may love it more than you love anything else, it’s still really, really hard.

For starters, have you ever had writer’s block? Empty lines or a b l i n k i n g cursor on a blank page is enough to make me want to scream. Then there are the thoughts that creep into your head- is my writing really any good? is it possible that I could ever even be published? And that’s just the beginning! When it comes to writing, I’ll take all the help I can get.

Review: Yours Truly, by Heather Vogel Frederick

I’ve been an avid fan of Heather Vogel Frederick’s books for years. 🙂 I read her blog often to see the latest news about her books and the like. I even won a giveaway for an ARC of her final Mother-Daughter Book Club book a year ago!

So you can imagine my excitement when I finally read the second installment in the Pumpkin Falls series, Yours Truly.

It didn’t disappoint. In hopes that I can persuade some of you to read it if you haven’t already, today I’ll be reviewing Yours Truly. Let’s get started! 😀
