Well, summer is over.
Part of me is sad about this, because my days spent reading and blogging as I pleased are over, and I’ve already returned to the routine of (online) school, dance, and with that comes stress. But I’m also very excited for fall to come soon and for the semblance of normalcy that’s already returned to my life with school and everything else. Summer being over means we’re making our way through 2020!
This summer will probably go down as one of the most abnormal summers of my life? Usually I would spend it reading, hanging out with my friends, possibly traveling- and yes, I did a lot of reading, but nothing else went the way it normally would have. I was able to spend time with friends outdoors occasionally, but I didn’t go anywhere and didn’t venture out of my house very often at all.
Despite the setbacks and social distancing measures, this summer was not without its highlights: my whole family was at home, so we got to spend quality time together. I also had (almost too much) free time, and got to spend more time relaxing and doing things that interest me than I normally would.
At the beginning of summer (when I was naive and thought COVID might actually get better instead of worse where I live) I made a summer bucket list, so this is going to be my follow-up to that! I looked back at these goals a little bit, but not a lot, so I’m actually very curious to see if I mostly achieved them or mostly failed.

Summer 2020 is…here.
Besides the weather and lack of school, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a summer that felt quite so un-summer like. The fact that we never went back to school after my spring break has resulted in the past few months feeling like an odd extension of summer, what with the free time and my sister living at home and me actually going outdoors to bike a lot. But, despite me feeling like it’s not summer, it is!
In honor of the months of vacation ahead of us, today’s post is a bucket list for the summer! This is a collab with both Annie and Lucy, of Zoelogist and Not All Who Sonder respectively. Annie and I did this collab last year too (and I find it pretty awesome that we’re making it a tradition), and this year we’re joined by Lucy, who just started her blog! I definitely think you should read both of their posts, and a special shoutout to Annie for organizing it all.
Due to the current state of the world, my list is pretty much composed of things I can do on my own, at my house! Things are opening up where I live, but social distancing is still encouraged and since I don’t really know what things will look like by the end of the summer, I’m making this list very at-home based. As an extra spin to make the post more entertaining, this list will also include commentary on each item from Annie and Lucy!
Without further ado- the bucket list!

Sadly, summer has come to close for me.
It hurt me to write those words (even though I can’t pretend I’m not excited for fall), but they’re true. My new dance season started this week, I go back to school this Thursday, and those are the signs that summer 2019 has truly ended.
For the sake of holding myself accountable for what I did and didn’t accomplish this summer, and also just to have fun, I decided to go back and reread my summer bucket list post from June. This was originally a collab with Annie, and it was a great way to start off the summer! Except now it’s time to see just how drastically I failed (or achieved) my goals.
Part of me is sad when I look back on my post from June because I was so full of excitement for summer when I wrote it, but the other part of me knows that summer happened, it was amazing, but now it’s inevitably time for it to end.
Without further dramatics, let’s get into the post!

If you know me, then you know I love making lists.
I’m constantly making lists, whether they’re in my head, on paper, or in my phone, and I make lists about pretty much everything. Sometimes the Type A in me really comes out. Despite lists being a part of my daily life, today’s post is something special, because it’s my summer bucket list!
This post is a collab with an amazing blogging friend of mine, Annie. Her blog is called Zoelogist, and if you haven’t already visited it, I highly recommend that you go read all of her posts right now. 😉 (Or at least read some of my favorites! Even though they’re all my favorites.) Annie is a wonderful human being and I’m lucky that we discovered each other’s blogs and we get to have long comment conversations together.
All of that to say- we’re doing a collab today! Basically, both of us are posting our own summer bucket lists today, and then to jazz things up, we also made comments on the other person’s list. So you’ll be hearing Annie’s thoughts as well as mine in this post!
Without further ado, because I’m too excited to keep carrying on in this introduction, cue the post.
