Happy Holidays Book Tag // AKA the Tag I Wasn’t Really Tagged For…

Happy Holidays, everyone.

Christmas is just around the corner! The holiday spirit is everywhere, so I thought we’d bring it to my blog today. 😉 I’m going to be doing the Happy Holidays Book Tag, a tag created by Sarah from Between the Pages (you can read her original post here).

hh

Before I get started, a quick note. I recently realized that next Monday, my posting day, is Christmas Day! Since I’ve kept to my posting schedule for the entirety of 2017, I really don’t want to mess it up on the last week of the year. I will be scheduling a post ahead of time for December 25th, though it’s unlikely I will be active on the Internet that day. 🙂

Now, without further ado, onto the tag!

arrowRules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and tag the original creator (Sarah) —> I wasn’t actually tagged for this, but I wanted to participate and spread this tag…so thank you for creating it, Sarah!
  • Answer the questions and have fun. 🙂
  • Feel free to use the graphics! (I did!)

A Book That…

This is a little cliche, but I’d have to say the whole Hunger Games series. I’ve read those books over and over, and they just continue to thrill me.

If you haven’t read any of the Hunger Games series, I really recommend it. Though I’ll always be a Potterhead before a…Hungerhead Hunger Games lover, it is truly an amazing series, filled with action and plot twist and oh so much wonderfulness.

I read a lot of contemporary, so this question should be easy for me. Unfortunately, I talk about most of my favorite contemporaries all the time, and I’m sure it gets repetitive. For this one, I’m going to go with Windfall, which I recently read.

Windfall is truly a wonderful contemporary. It was not light and fluffy, but it also still left me with those warm feels you get after reading a book that touched your heart. I’ve been wanting to do a review on this one, so I don’t want to give too much away, but basically, it includes allll the best love interests and has a super intriguing plot. Highly recommend!

Finishing books in one sitting is the best feeling. A few that I vividly remember finishing all at once are Everything, Everything (all the love for this book!), Worlds Collide (the sixth in a series, so obviously I couldn’t wait to read it), and Starfish (I can’t properly express my love for this book, really).

Covers are the best! (Can we all admit that we judge books by their covers…all the time?) I love so many, but one that I just can’t stop obsessing over is Love & Gelato.

I know it’s simple, but I love the font, and the ice cream cones. You can’t tell in this photo, but the cover also has a sort of textured look, too. And, the story inside is just lovely- even lovelier than the cover, if possible.

I had to stare at my bookshelf for a while on this one, because I don’t usually read books that seem awful. If I hear they’re bad, I just… don’t read them.

One that I didn’t expect to like was The School of FearI read it a very long time ago, and it is definitely MG, but I still recommend it today. I just thought the cover was creepy and the plot seemed strange, but I actually ended up loving it, and the rest of the series, too.

Don’t hurt me for putting Harry Potter on every single post I’ve ever done tag, but… Harry Potter! Will I ever stop bringing up Harry Potter?

the answer is no

I feel like I truly know each and every one of the Harry Potter characters. This is not because they were made into films, it is because of the amazing descriptions and personalities given to each and every character. I don’t know how J.K. Rowling managed to create so many characters that were so lifelike, but I will forever be grateful that she did.

I read I Am Princess X about a year ago, and I think it is perfect for this topic. I picked it because the plot is unlike any other I’ve ever read- it’s unpredictable, full of twists, and doesn’t feel at all like it is a rerun of another book. I’d highly recommend you check it out if you haven’t read it!

arrowI hope you enjoyed this post! I thought this tag was awesome, and it’s especially perfect since Christmas is only a week away. (AHHH! JUST A WEEK!) Thanks again for creating this, Sarah- I loved it! 🙂

Do you agree with any of my thoughts? What did you think of The Hunger Games? Have you read I Am Princess X? And are you excited for the holidays?

  1. I’m so with you on The Hunger Games—I’m so obsessed with that series that I wrote my senior thesis about them! I still pretty much have them memorized three years later, or I would probably be rereading them soon.

And how can you not include Harry Potter in every tag post? It just perfectly answers so many questions…

    • Yes!! Hunger Games is wonderful. That is so awesome you wrote a thesis on them! I feel like they can sometimes get underrated or just called “the book where everyone kills each other,” but really there is so much more to it. My favorite part was the characters.

I know, right? Haha! Harry Potter is always the answer.😉

  2. Ah, this really is a great tag. Everywhere I’ve seen it, it’s brought out great answers.
No need to apologize for including Harry Potter. It’s earned its place in all those posts by being so fantastic!
I’ll need to pick one of your single-sitting reads to try out for myself. I haven’t read any of them, but perhaps I should.
