July Recap // ft. Lots of Reading, Sunsets, & Folklore (+ Ask Me Questions for a Q&A!)

It’s August, my friends!

I’m not sure why, but I’m actually so happy that we’re officially in August of 2020. I think part of me thinks this year is going to drag on forever, so making it to another month feels like an accomplishment. We’re also a little bit closer to fall now, my favorite season- and the return to school (and dance for me) is here, too. I usually dread August, but I’m trying to go into this month with as much positivity as possible.

Even though I didn’t really do much at all in July, because I had absolutely no commitments and the COVID situation where I live just keeps getting worse and worse, I still…did things? I might have not traveled anywhere or even left my house more than a few times, but I still had a productive month in the sense of reading and accomplishing some personal goals.

I’ve noticed in the past that July is always one of my more productive months in terms of blogging and reading, probably because it’s a full month of summer vacation for me and I usually don’t have any plans. Adding that to me being in quarantine (is it even still quarantine? I don’t know?), and I had even more free time on my hands! This resulted in worse mental health, but more free time spent on my hobbies and goals.

Well, to start off this recap with something positive, I read a lot of books this month! This was because of all my free time, but also because I participated in The Reading Rush at the end of the month and because one of my close friends and I have been swapping books back and forth.

I feel like I read some of these books so long ago, so I guess that speaks to how semi-slowly July seemed to pass for me! But I was able to read 15 books, which I think it more than I’ve read in a month for quite a few years (7/15 were for the readathon).

The Dangerous Art of Blending InSiege and Storm (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #2)Northanger AbbeyStrange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1)You Deserve Each OtherA Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)The Boy Who Steals HousesThe Henna WarsFive Feet ApartI Wanna Be Where You AreWild and CrookedThe Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy (The Penderwicks #1)Jesus > Religion: Why He Is So Much Better Than Trying Harder, Doing More, and Being Good EnoughCinderella Is Dead

My task to do mini reviews just got a lot more daunting, but I’ll definitely be talking a lot about all of these novels in the months to come! I think my favorites of the month were probably The Boy Who Steals Houses, Strange the Dreamerand You Deserve Each Other. I’m pretty sure I’ll be raving about all three of these (as well as the other great books I read) soon.

I didn’t have any books I didn’t like this month, which was good! I also got to read a couple of my really anticipated releases and finally got around to starting the ACOTAR series- my friend lent her copies to me and in exchange, I lent her The Raven Cycle (and fangirling with her about the gangsey was a highlight of my July).

  • Read 3-4 classics ❌ I only read one…

August Reading Goals✨

  • Read 8 books
  • Read 1 classic
  • Post on bookstagram 10 times and stay active

I’m trying to be more lenient with my August reading goals because I know going back to dance full-time and school is going to take a huge toll on me and definitely diminish my free time. Hopefully I don’t abandon reading, especially since school is online for August and I don’t go back until halfway through the month, but I know I won’t be reading 15 books again anytime soon.

It’s become a trend that my best blogging month is always July. I’m happy to say that this July was no different- the extra time really made it possible for me to try and stay updated on my Reader and post more than I usually would.

I love the blogging community so much, so being active in it made me super happy, and it also made me really happy to see the Book Blogger Awards going on! (You can vote now.) Seeing the love for book bloggers made my heart smile, and an extra thank you for anyone who nominated me, because I can guarantee that every time I read a nomination post with me in it I was filled with so much love and gratitude. I LOVE YOU ALL, and please remember that you’re all amazing and valid no matter what.💗

In other news, here’s what I posted on the blog this month~

While I know I definitely missed a lot of amazing posts because I would sometimes get behind on my Reader, here are a few posts I especially adored this month~

I feel like me including a survey in my monthly wrap-ups has just become A Thing, but I’m back with a very small questionnaire and I would be most honored if you’d fill it out!

My four year anniversary of blogging on Purely Olivia is fast approaching (it’s in mid-August) and I wanted to do something at least a little special for it, so I thought, Q&A! Because, well, I always like reading other Q&As and it gives me a chance to talk about something other than books (although I’m very happy to answer any questions about books).

So if you have any questions for me, whether it’s about blogging, books, or anything else under the sun, please submit them in the form below and I would love to answer them!

I hope I can keep up the blogging momentum in August! I know things are going to slow down a little bit due to school and dance, but since I’ll be in online school and everything, I want to at least try and stay more active while I can. But I know blogging won’t be a top priority once I have other things going on, so we’ll see.

As I said at the beginning of this post, July has been such a weird month for me. It was productive in terms of reading and blogging, but was just so strange life-wise. Of course there’s still a global pandemic going on, so I haven’t been able to see my friends like I normally would during the summer (besides the occasional distanced walk) and I’ve been trying to keep busy at home.

There were certainly some days in July where the lack of normalcy was overwhelming, but my hope is that in the coming months or years when life is busy and stressful again, I’ll be grateful for the time I had at home to relax and spend as I wanted. Some notable moments include~

  • IMG_1400Taylor Swift’s new album is the best!! ever!! I wouldn’t even be me if I didn’t mention how obsessed I am with folklore. I think it’s Taylor’s best album yet for many reasons that I won’t go into here, but it’s been on repeat since it got released and definitely made my July way better. My favorite songs at the moment are betty, cardigan, mad woman, and the 1 (but I love them all).
  • I’ve been binge watching Gossip Girl with my friend. I feel like I mentioned this in my last wrap-up, but my friend and I have perfected the art of Netflix party-ing while Zooming, and spent nearly every single night of July watching Gossip Girl together. We just got to season 4, so we’re making good progress!IMG_6541
  • Being outside at sunset has become my new favorite activity. I’ve been bike riding and walking at sunset so much lately. It’s so hot where I live, but it’s tolerable at about 8-9 pm, so that’s when I’ll go on a bike ride or walk. My friend and I had one really iconic walk where the sunset ended up being really beautiful and we were listening to music while watching it set and dancing around in front of it and it probably my best memory of July.
  • College apps are real. I knew this was coming, but now it’s here and apps are open and I’ve spent a bit of July writing essays and researching various schools and scholarships. I’ve probably spent more time stressing about it than actually working on it, but still. The goal is to actually apply in August, which is terrifying to say the least.
  • IMG_6935-2I’ve spent quite a few hours making bracelets and listening to podcasts. My all-time favorite podcast is The Office Ladies, but this month I started listening to The Bible Recap and Beautiful Anonymous (shoutout to my best friend for the recommendation, if you are reading this, I love you).
  • I’ve also watched so many Marvel movies! My family finally got Disney+, and we spent many a July night watching the Marvel movies together. I definitely am going to go into more details on the movies in a later post, but I think we watched upwards of 15 of them this month?

I’m a mix of optimistic and fearful for August! I’m going back to dance, which is scary because cases are higher now than they were when we did online dance, but I am excited to dance again and we’ll be wearing masks and distancing as much as possible. I’m also starting back school, though it’s going to be online at least through August (I’m guessing probably longer than that too).

August definitely holds a lot of unknown, and while some parts are sad, like having my first day of senior year be over Zoom, I know it’s most important to prioritize the health and safety of everyone. I hope you’re all staying safe and doing as well as possible right now! I’m wishing you all the best in August.🤍

How was your July? What did you read or spend your time doing? Any plans for August? I would love to talk with you in the comments.

  2. July just came and went for me, I had a lot to do and August will be just as busy because I am close to finishing university and moving away.

Wow that is a lot of books you read there, I am impressed. Which one would you recommend me to read?

    • Congrats on almost finishing university! I hope your August goes well and you’re able to get a lot done but also have some relaxation during all the busy times.💛

Thank you! I think the one I would ultimately recommend the most was Strange the Dreamer- it was so beautiful and magical.

  4. Hello Olivia! Thought I would share my questions here too, in case they get lost in the Google Forms abyss: How do you deal with reading slumps in the book community? What are your three favourite genres? How did you start blogging? What inspired you to start blogging? Have any embarrassing blogging stories to tell? (like I used to share Doctor Who fanfics…) I absolutely loved reading this post! Your monthly wrap-ups are my favourite to sit down to. A cuppa tea and a biscuit really made this reading experience enjoyable (although even without the beverages it would be a fun read). I’m sorry to hear the extended period at home has taken a toll on your mental health. It’s done the same to so many people, which I’m really sad to hear. However for me, a home bird, it’s not done that at all. I love staying at home. Although can’t say I’ve never been fed up of these four walls. Folklore is such a cool album! I wasn’t into Taylor Swift until I heard this album. It’s pretty cool. Although I love my Indie Rock, some slow Swift and a bit of Coldplay is lovely sometimes. So soothing on the ears! Are you in America or Canada? I’m sorry I often forget these things. In the UK we don’t arrive back in school ’til September. August is our full month off, so of course I’m excited for that. And it’s my birthday too! Looking forward to having a birthday book splurge. As much as possible, however, I’m buying second-hand or from independent stores. I have a way to go with that goal though. Good luck with your return to school! Must be refreshing to finally get back to a bit of normal. Stay safe, of course. I’m so upset that Covid-19 is not going well in your area. Here in the UK it’s not being dealt with in the best way, but I’m grateful for the control we do have. I’ve not been in school since March 18th… Sorry for such a long comment! It won’t make your goal of responding to comments much easier! I can’t wait for this new month. You’ll smash your goals, I’m sure. All the best, Catherine x

    • Hi Catherine! Thank you so, so much for all the questions. I can’t wait to answer them all.🤗 Ahh, you seriously made my whole day, thank you, I’m so happy you love reading my wrap-up posts! Knowing that you read this with a cup of tea made me smile so much.

I’m glad to hear that staying home has been nice for you! There are definitely days that I’m grateful for the productivity it brings as well- and sidenote, your instagram stories always inspire me to be more productive, so thank you for that.

Ahh, Folklore! That’s so amazing that you’ve started to get into Taylor Swift more because of it. I’m in the United States- oh, good to hear you get another full month off of school, that sounds so wonderful. Happy early birthday, and I hope you get a lot of amazing books!

Thank you so much, Catherine! I know, I haven’t been in school since very early March, and at this point I’m not sure when we’ll next go in-person. No, I absolutely loved this comment! Thank you very much for all the kind words, they’re so appreciated. Sending you all the positivity and love for August! xx

  5. You read such great books this month! 15 is a BIG amount, I could never! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on them, especially on ACOTAR and ACOMAF.
I only read 6 books on July and my favorite was definitely I’ll Be The One by Lyla Lee.
Congrats on your 4 year anniversary as a blogger coming soon! 🎉
And I can relate on being obsessed with folklore😭 I believe it’s on my top three of taylor’s best albums along with Red and Speak Now. My favorite songs are hoax, exile and cardigan💕

    • Ahh, thank you so much! I will definitely be sharing more thoughts on them soon- and I’m hoping to finish the ACOTAR series this coming month as well.
That’s an amazing amount! I’ll have to check out I’ll Be The One.🥰
      Thank you so much!!
I think my top three albums would also be folklore, Red, and Speak Now- or at least that’s how I’m feeling today, who knows, I might change my mind tomorrow, haha. I love all of those songs so much! Thank you for this comment, and happy August. xx

  7. I also had a super productive July in terms of blogging and reading, but my general life has been so strange and boring this summer. I usually travel every summer at least once, usually to see family and friends, but I haven’t left my town once this summer, which has been pretty strange. It’s so hot where I live too! The last couple of weeks the heat wave dropped a bit, but only by about 10 degrees.
Where I live, we get to choose to go to school online or in person, but we can choose to take certain electives in person, even if we’re going online. I’m going online, but I’m debating whether or not to take dance in person, and I completely agree, it will be so strange to be in class.
I’ve also been listening to Office Ladies a lot, and it’s such a fun podcast!
    Great post!

    • I’m glad your month was productive!❤️ I completely understand about having such a strange summer, though. I’m so sorry your summer plans weren’t able to happen this year, but I hope your next summer is amazing to make up for it. xx
That’s good! We get to choose too- I chose in person, but everyone is doing online for the first month or so, so I don’t know exactly when I’ll get back. Ahh, good luck with the decision on whether or not to take dance in person!
It’s the best- I love the banter between Angela and Jenna and hearing all the behind the scenes.
Thank you so much! Wishing you all the best in August!

  8. Hello, this is jealous Ruby who did not read as much as you did but is still cheering you on because WOW you did so well.

Yesss so glad to see you read TBWSH, it’s one of my 2019 faves. Ah, I NEED to get to You Deserve Each Other and Strange The Dreamer!

You can SLAY your August goals, Olivia, I know it. Also going back to school, online, but have the same goal. Also SO COOL that your blogiversary is coming up. FOUR YEARS IS AMAZING!! And ah good luck with all the school things, dance and essays and senior year! I know it’ll go well. That sunset is STUNNING btw.

Also, LOVE that you’re rewatching Gossip Girl heheh.

    • RUBY I ADORE YOU~ thank you so much😭❤️

TBWSH is going to be one of my 2020 favorites for sure! I’m still not over the waffles and glitter and heartbreak from it. I really hope you enjoy You Deserve Each Other and Strange the Dreamer, they also will probably be making my 2020 faves list!

Thank you so much!! Don’t mind me over here crying because you’re too kind to me. Good luck with going back to school and everything for your August too!!❤️

It’s so good?? It’s actually my first time watching it and I’m a little too invested.

  9. I actually cannot believe it’s August – this year is completely flying by considering it’s really not been that fun??
It seems like you had a pretty good month though, besides from any mental health stuff – I hear you on it being worse in the summer. I think for me it’s a combo of the free time and also the heat makes me anxiety so much worse for some reason.

Reading wise, 15 books is awesome!! AND SO IS FOLKLORE. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. My faves are the last great american dynasty, illicit affairs and betty but i do just love them all so much. I totally agree too that it might be my fave album?? It’s definitely between Reputation and folklore for me.

Sorry about the covid situation – that must be so frustrating. Thankfully here in the UK cases are going down a lot (and hopefully stays that way) so it’s been nice to go out a little more. So weird how normal things such as going to a restaurant or a picnic with friends is now so much more of an occasion than before. It will be especially weird going back to school in September.

Hope August is good for you and enjoy going back to dance! + good luck with college applications! I’m in the same boat (except we call it university) and I don’t even know where to start with my personal statement essay haha.

    • I completely agree! This year has been so slow yet so fast all at the same time. And yes, having so much free time and uncertainty hasn’t been the best for me- I’m sorry your mental health has also been suffering as a result of it, and I hope August is better!❤️

Aww, thank you! YES, FOLKLORE IS A WORK OF ART. I love all the songs you mentioned. *cries* I think it’s between folklore and Speak Now for favorite album for me?? But I honestly think folklore has won.

I’m really glad to hear things are better with covid where you are! Hearing that some places are getting things under control gives me at least some hope that things can get better here someday too. This has certainly taught me to appreciate the small things, you’re right! Going on a walk with a friend now is peak social interaction, which is really strange.

Thank you, Emme! Ahh, best of luck with your applications, too. Not knowing what to write about in essays is so relatable- I feel like I’m such an ordinary person and nothing worth writing about has necessarily happened to me, so I’m trying to find an interesting topic, haha. I hope you have an amazing August, and thank you again for this comment! xx

Ahh thank you so much for mentioning my post ❤ And wow, congrats on four years of blogging!! Gonna go ask some questions for your q&a now…

I really could have featured all of them, it was hard to pick my favorite from the month. Yay, thank you so much for the questions and the well wishes! I hope your August goes really well too. xx

  11. OMG 15 books is insane! I could only dream of reading so much in a month. My max is 10 and I’ve only accomplished that twice so far. All the books you’ve read look so good though! I can’t wait to see your thoughts on ACOMAF, if you decide to keep going with the series.
I’m so sorry your mental health has been deteriorating lately. Quarantine definitely hit me mentally as well, but I feel like lately, I’ve been handling it better. I hope you’ll find what works for you and helps you feel better soon.
Honestly, I’m also obsessed with folklore. It’s all I’m listening to ever since it dropped. Red used to be my favorite Taylor album, but folklore just might have won that title. I don’t have a favorite song because they keep changing with every listen, but right now I’d probably pick exile, my tears ricochet and seven.
I hope you have a wonderful august!

    • Ahh, thank you, Juli! 10 books is so amazing too, I hardly ever reach that amount in a month either. I just finished ACOWAR and am going to read the novella next, so I think after that I’ll be caught up on the series.🥰
Oh, thank you so much- that means a lot to me and I’ll take these words to heart. I’m so glad to hear things have gotten better for you throughout quarantine and I hope they continue to improve. xx
Same here! I’m pretty sure folklore has won the title of best album for me as well. I love exile so much, and all the songs are way too good.
Thank you again! I hope your August is amazing!

  13. YOU FINALLY READ THE BOY WHO STEALS HOUSES. *slides you a plate of salted-caramel brownies (salted with my tears, obviously)* I just re-read it recently and I have so much love for Sam and Avery and the De Laineys. I look forward to reading your ravings and mini-reviews of TBWSH and the other books as well 🙂
I’d love to read your thoughts about Marvel movies! My family is currently working our way (slowly but surely) through all of the movies in chronological order. I’ve seen all of the movies at least once before, but it’s interesting to go back and watch the earlier movies knowing where the story/character arcs are going.
Wishing you the best for August and navigating going back to school! ❤

    • I DID!! *accepts plate of brownies and adds my own tear salt to them* There were certainly tears, but there was also much smiling- and I can’t wait to reread it soon because the characters completely have my heart. Ahh, that makes me so happy to hear!
I’ll definitely talk about the Marvel movies more- I think when I talk about my summer goals, since it was one of my main goals, I’ll talk about what I thought about them. That’s what my family was doing too! I can already tell I’m going to want to go back and rewatch them because some of them are SO good. I hope you enjoy your rewatch!
Thank you so much- wishing you all the best and a very lovely August.🥰

Congrats on having such a wonderful reading & blogging month!! 15 books in a month is amazing, and I’m glad that you enjoyed most of the books you read! I’m so excited to read You Deserve Each Other and Cinderella is Dead, I’ve heard such great things about both of them ❤

Also your sunset photo is gorgeous, I love sunsets so much and can never tire of taking pictures of them hehe 😍 I've also been taking walks every night (since it's cooler) and that's one thing about quarantine that I'm glad about, I've really been enjoying these walks. I hope that you have a great start to your senior year (even though it's online, I know you'll make the best of it), and good luck w/ college apps!! Thank you! I really liked both of those- my expectations weren’t quite met with Cinderella is Dead, which was a little sad, but overall I still definitely enjoyed it and I think it’s worth reading for sure. I hope you love it!

That’s ME- I take pictures of the sunset basically every day, and now my camera roll basically only consists of sunsets since I don’t go anywhere else anymore.😅 Yay for walks, they’ve been getting me through everything as well- and thank you SO much! I had a surprisingly decent August last year, and this year, I’m actually enjoying it and I’m ~actually~ looking forward to starting school this semester, which I haven’t felt since I was in high school :’) Best of luck with college apps, getting back into school, staying consistent with blogging, starting dance again, and beginning your senior year!! ❤ xxx You have got this girly!

    • I hope this August treats you well and is better than ones of the past for you!💛 I don’t usually love this month either because it’s normally such a sudden transition to stress from summer, but I’m also looking forward to it just because I pretty much will grasp any semblance of normalcy this year. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! 🥺

  20. Your wrap-ups are always absolutely SO LOVELY, Olivia! You’re a magician with words, I swear. I am happy to hear though that you had a pretty productive month, even if you can’t leave your house often! As someone who’s productivity levels have been at all time lows, that’s incredibly inspiring. I’m also very happy that we’re getting closer to fall – bring on the sweaters, warm candles, and pumpkins!

And congratulations on reading so many books this month!! I’ve been meaning to read The Boy Who Steals Houses for quite a while now, and the fact that it was one of your favorites of the month makes me even more pumped to finally pick it up.

You are so, SO KIND to share my PJO post; thank you so much for doing that, and for saying such nice things about it! I’m absolutely happy to write about books meant for 12-year-olds as a “grown adult.”

folklore??? what’s that??? Even though we’ve already gushed about the album, I ! Still ! Can’t ! Get ! Over ! It ! It’s such a masterpiece, and Taylor is a genius storyteller. I don’t know that I have any favorite favorites, because the whole album is amazing, but I’ve been really enjoying the 1, betty, invisible string, and peace as of late. I honestly love each song though. I also may or may not have been listening to this album and only this album since it’s come out, but there’s no proof of that.

I’ve been in the market (so to say) for a new podcast, and Beautiful Anonymous looks incredible??? I’m so excited to give it a shot.

Here’s to a happy and healthy August, and I’ll be thinking of you as you experience some of these “lasts” for the first time over Zoom! Sending my love 💛

    • Oh my gosh, Lauren, thank you so much! That’s such a compliment and I’m smiling so hard right now. I also can’t wait for fall- it’s my favorite season and even though life is crazy right now, I think having it be fall will make everything a little better.❤️

Thank you! Eep, I really hope you enjoy The Boy Who Steals Houses as much as I did- it was so cute and heartwarming and certainly a tear jerker.

Of course!! I thought your PJO post was just so meaningful and beautifully written (though I love all your posts) so I had to share it.

I can’t get over it either!! I have definitely only been listening to it too. My favorites keep hopping around a little bit as well, but I’m also very into the 1 and betty at the moment- they’re so much fun to sing to while driving. *screams* I think the album is released in Target today so hopefully I’ll be able to hear the lakes!!

Oh, yay! It’s super interesting and even though I’ve only listened to one or two episodes so far, I’ve learned a lot of interesting fun facts and have been thoroughly entertained- so I hope you enjoy.

Thank you again! This comment was so kind, and I really can’t thank you enough for it. I hope you have a wonderful August too!!🥰

  21. Ahh, I really can’t believe it’s August already! But I think it’s a good thing that 2020 is zooming (hah) by. This year from hell needs to end 😔 you read so many books!! I don’t think I’ve ever read more than 12 books in one month (and only because I strained myself), how are you so cool?? also, good luck with college apps and dance ❤ It really is sad that the first day of your senior year will be over zoom, but i hope you still have fun 🥺🥺
I hope your August is as incredible as you are!

    • I completely agree! Haha, I love your pun and may be stealing it to say to people in real life (people being my parents).😅 Ahh, thank you! I think the only reason I read so much is because I did the Reading Rush, which probably counts as straining myself, so I relate, lol. Aww, that means a lot to me- thank you! You are the sweetest to me and I hope you have a wonderful August.💛 xx

I couldn’t agree more! (Our fangirling over folklore is the best, also.) Thank you again! I’m so excited you submitted questions, I may have already looked and I’m very hyped to answer them. Thank you so much, I’ve said that so many times haha but it truly is the only way to encompass my love for you and this comment and your kindness!❤️

  24. This is an amazing wrap up! Wow 15 books?! I only read 2 lol 😀 The books you read look interesting and very diverse — some are on my TBR list! And folklore YES. After this I will proceed to read your folklore book tag. It looks like you were super productive this month — kudos to you!!! Good luck with school, I hope your senior year will be wonderful 😊. I also really enjoyed your posts : Ranking Romance Tropes in Books From Worst to Best!! // Aka Exposing My Inner Romantic and 12 YA Book Recs Based Off TV Shows!! // Stranger Things, Gilmore Girls, Friends, & More!!!! My favorite example of friends to lovers is Anne and Gilbert (I’m a fan of classics).

    • Thank you! Ahh, I doubt I’ll ever read that many books again in a month- and there is definitely still reason to be proud of reading 2 books.🥰 Thank you so much, Eleanor- I really appreciate that! I start back in a couple days so fingers crossed it’s a good experience. Aww, thank you! Agh, I LOVE Anne and Gilbert so much. Anne of Green Gables is my favorite classic and their romance is everything.🥺

  25. olivia!!!#*!( first of all: SO MANY AMAZING BOOKS THIS MONTH! i am so glad you really liked you deserve each other, it was a really hilarious romance. i’ll be looking forward to hear your thoughts on wild and crooked (as i really want to read it) and the dangerous art of blending in (i read it earlier this year and felt… idk it was a weird read!)

i am really glad you love folklore so much and overall i’m surprised with the reception of this album so far! it’s not my fave and i was a bit underwhelmed, but i think i’ll be able to appreciate it more in the future. also, GOSSIP GIRL!!*@!( it’s one of my favorite tv shows ever and i recently finished my rewatch, hahah. i always rewatch until season 4 because the 5th and 6th one are a bit :/ but don’t let me discourage you! they’re still good, they just don’t give me the same ~vibes~ as the first four ones.

wishing you all the luck on your college apps, dancing classes & overall a great august!

    • AHH, thank you so much!! You Deserve Each Other was so cute.🥺 As for Wild & Crooked, I’ll talk about in a mini review for sure!! To be honest, it feels like I read The Dangerous Art of Blending In a year ago, I can’t believe in was just in July, haha. I’ll try to collect my thoughts on that as well to share!! (:

Aww, I’m sorry folklore isn’t your favorite- I can see it not being everyone’s cup of tea. I hope you’re finding some music you do love to listen to this month, though! xx Ahh, I’m on season 4 of Gossip Girl right now. So far I think the first two seasons were my favorite because I loved the high school vibes, but also I can’t rule out seasons 3 and 4 yet because of course so many of the relationships happened and just wow, the drAMA- I’m obsessed.

Thank you so, so much!! Wishing you a most wonderful August.💗

  26. FIFTEEN BOOKS, that’s amazing!!! Also, I can’t believe I missed that Jesus>religion was by Jefferson Bethke–I definitely recognize his name from a podcast I listen to.
Oh my, I haven’t even started researching scholarships yet.
I love SO MUCH that you and your friend swapped The Raven Cycle and Sarah J. Maas.
Okay, questionnaire questions. The amount of directions I can go is making me unable to go in any direction. Hm, what do you want to do first with your friends once social distancing measures almost get back to normal? What are you going to do when it comes to taking books to college?? I haven’t thought about this one, but now I’m going to probably start thinking about when my mind wanders in class. What’s your favorite Goodreads feature? (Besides the stars and adding books on shelves.) Oh wait, I just realize that you have a form for this, but I feel like I always mess it up. I hope you have fun with these, and they’re not too difficult to answer :))
Also, I think you are so great at responding back. And AHA, your aside for a blog redesign made me smile. Even though I don’t see it every time I read a post (but I don’t mind the WordPress feed design–hm, but I feel like people who put more effort than me AKA any effort into their post structure would be annoyed–how do you feel? wow that was a long extra thought), it still feels like I’m entering into your blog space when I click on your posts. Ooh, what is BBA? I’ve never heard of this before.
I hope you have a good LAST FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! (Well of high school :))

    • Ahh, thank you!! Oh, that’s awesome- what podcast is it? I would definitely recommend Jesus > Religion, by the way.
I haven’t gotten very far on scholarship research, since the actual applications seem like more of a priority, but it’s in the back of my mind as one more thing I need to remember.
      It was the best!!
Thank you so much for the questions! I really appreciate them and am excited to answer. :))
Aww, thank you Annie! HAHA, I was really ready to redesign and then I was like, eh, I actually don’t feel like changing my graphics. Ohh, do you read posts through the Reader? I’ve always wondered what post people do. I usually open the post in a new tab and write my comment in the Reader comment section as I read the post. If that makes any sense. BBA is the Book Blogger Awards! I’m not sure if that’s an official shortening or if I accidentally invented it.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SAYING THIS, IT MADE ME SO HAPPY.

      • It was That Sounds Fun!!! For specific episode recommendations, a recent one would be the one with the Double Name Withces. Ahh okay!
Okay yes, I need to do that.
Ooh, that’s an interesting question of what people do. Oh that’s a good system! What I do is I usually read it again, and then I alternate between scrolling up and down between the post and writing my comment. Ahaha ohh, got it. Hahah, I am so for making acronyms. (EPRs.)
        AHHHHH YOU’RE WELCOME.

        Liked by 1 person

        • Thank you for the recommendations! I just looked through some of the podcasts episodes and it looks really cool. Wow, they have a lot of famous guest people on it! (I saw Cory Ashbury and Lauren Akins while scrolling.)
Ahhh, I see- I used to do the scrolling thing but then I always got confused. I still do the scrolling method sometimes, usually when I’m visiting a blog I don’t follow and commenting on their post.
I smiled at EPRs. :)) After all the acronyms we’ve considered at this point, we should probably just major in acronym-making. The world needs us and now all our college decisions are made for us.

I KNOW RIGHT? It came out of nowhere but was the best thing ever. I think betty, exile, the 1, and cardigan are my favorites!

I’m still watching Gossip Girl right now, and aghhh, Chuck and Blair are giving my sanity a run for its money. Thank you for this comment, Ahaana, I’m sorry for this late reply! xx
