What could be better than books and bucket lists?
As I’ve established in my summer bucket list post from a couple weeks ago, I adore bucket lists. And obviously, due to the entirety of my blog’s content, I also adore books. That makes this tag, The Summer Bucket List Book Tag, the most perfect tag for me to do! 😉
First of all, this tag was created by Tiffany from Read By Tiffany. If you’ve never heard of Tiffany and her blog, please stop reading this post and go visit her lovely corner of the internet! I am begging you to leave my post, so you know it’s good. She’s so kind, sweet, never fails to use the best emojis, and her blog (which she recently redesigned) is the best pink, Hufflepuff aesthetic in the universe.
I’m beyond excited that she created an original tag that not only lets me exclaim how wonderful her blog is (!!) but also allows for me to talk about and recommend a whole lot of books to you all.
Let’s get into the post!✨
- Link back to the original creator in your post.
- Feel free to use any of Tiffany’s graphics in your post, or create your own! (I’m using hers because they’re gorgeous.)
- Tag 5 other people at the end of your post, and let them know you’ve tagged them.
Not only is Summer of Salt set by the water, in a misty, magical town with a lighthouse, it has summer in the title! I hope that’s enough to convince you all to pick it up this summer because it’s more than worth the read. With a wonderful sister relationship, island vibes, all the magic you could ever want, and powerful messages, I recommend this novel with all my heart.
Not only is this book one of my all-time favorites, I read it for the first time in the summer and so it always feels perfect for this time of year. Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda has the most adorable romance ever?? Most of it is over email and it’s just the absolute cutest. Not to mention it has great friendships, sibling relationships, and high school theater. Hi this is the best book ever please read it.
In the most literal sense, The Other Side of Lost is about the main character, Mari’s, journey as she hikes the John Muir trail. But past surface level, this book is truly about self-discovery as Mari discovers who she really is, and how that person is different than her online persona. This book is especially perfect for summer since it’s about being out in nature and enjoying the true beauty the world has to offer, and what better time to do that than summer?
I cannot and will not ever stop talking about Foolish Hearts. And yes, I just checked it out from the library to reread.
Six months after reading it for the first time. It truly just pulled me in and I fell in love right away! With amazing friendships, the soft sunflower that is Gideon, theater, boy bands- I couldn’t put it down, and after finishing it, all I wanted to do was go back to the beginning and enjoy it all over again.
Just the other day, I read Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss and I read it all in one sitting. I was intrigued by the setting (on a movie set), the main character (strong-willed, but also sweet and funny), the characters (friendships!! with banter!! a romantic love interest!! with even more banter!!) and the overall plot. I plan to review this soon, but it was definitely the definition of a fluffy summer contemporary and I loved it.
The romance in From Twinkle, With Love was actually the sweetest thing ever?? It’s been a good few days since I finished this book and I’m still crying over it. 😉 Review is to come on the book as a whole, but I couldn’t help but talk about it here anyway- Twinkle is very ambitious but also a romantic, and the guy-whose-name-shall-remain-not-spoken is incredibly sweet, also romantic, and just an all-around kind person. This romance was so sweet, like eating ice cream, because of how healthy and happy it was!
I know I’ve talked about this book a lot, but I can never talk about it enough! My Lady Jane was hilarious- like, laugh out loud in public hilarious- and had such a fun, unexpected twist on history. The romance, the differing points of view, the funny lines from the authors- I love everything about this book, so much so that I bought it and have already reread it. It’s a breath of fresh air from your average fantasy!
Would it really be a summer recommendations post if I didn’t talk about The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls?? I literally love this book beyond words. And yet here I am trying to describe my love for it in words. Each of the four sisters in this novel face their own challenges and conquer obstacles within themselves throughout the story, making you all the more attached to them. With its small-town feel, sister relationships, and the fact that it’s set in the summer, this is a perfect book to read this time of year.
I’m going to have to go with Tiffany’s choice here and feature Stay Sweet. I feel like this book screams summer, what with its bright colors and the fact that so much of its plot revolves around ice cream! Being the ice cream connoisseur that I am, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed by the sheer amount of ice cream in this book. I enjoyed the rest of the story too, and it’s a great fluffy summer contemporary.
It didn’t come as a surprise to me that I was utterly inspired by Becoming. Michelle Obama is a phenomenal role model, and I loved reading about her life experiences! I think it’s a wonderful book to read during the summer because it’s on the longer side (and there’s more time in the summer) and because summer is a good time to recharge and become reinspired- which is what will happen after you read this book.
There we have it, The Summer Bucket List Book Tag. I honestly had the best time ever writing this post and going back through my Goodreads to find books that fit the categories and that are perfect for summer.☀️
Thank you again to Tiffany, both for creating this tag and for tagging me! She’s the best, and I really do hope you’ll go check out her blog.
Now for the five bloggers I tag! If I do tag you, please feel no pressure to participate, and if I don’t tag you but you’d still like to take part, by all means do so. I’d love to read all your posts!
Thank you for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed and I also hope that whether it’s summer or winter for you right now, you’re having a beautiful day filled with lots of books and chocolate of some kind
or any other dessert.
Have you read any of these books? Did you add them to your TBR? What’s your ultimate summer read? I can’t wait to chat with you in the comments.
